Here's a few tips for You on finding whites, look for areas of sand and shale that hold tube worm. Areas of sand/mud on the downtide side of structures like piers, breakwater's, groyne's etc. The back of sand bars on storm beach's. River estuary mouths. Right at the foot of deepwater shingle beach's where the stone meets the sand. The furthest extremities seaward on most sand beach's on big spring tides. Sheltered beach's on islands, ie I.O.W. High up the banks on some rivers inside river estuary's, especially those that dry out.
There's a few ideas to get you going, but be warned ,ardent match anglers sometimes travel hundreds of miles to dig them, so the likely hood of You having them on your doorstep is unlikely, having said that if you are in Lancashire then you shouldn't have to go that far, Cumbria?
It realy is just a case of doing what We all did old mukka, get off Your butt and go look, !!

just to add to what has been said already:mellow:

as most are dug on the biggest springs go for a drive along your chosen coast [just before low tide] the sight of diggers or there headlights usualy gives an idea of things happening way out on the low tide mark :whistling

Any of the durham area lads care to share some valuable info (on any bait beds in the NE at that)? A pm would be nice, even an invite to tag along would be nice too. Would donate 60% of the spoils for release of info.... unless they say redcar as i think thats the most common knowledge in the northeast!

cheers.
