Jim's Fishing World!

What an honour to be asked to do my own Blog on one of the Northern Hemisphere’s largest sea fishing websites, but where do I start?!?

Some of you may remember my feature ‘Skipper’s Journal’ which featured In TSF some years ago. Skipper’s Journal was as it says, a journal, a diary piece whereby I wrote about what I had been up to each month whilst running my charter boat. Times change and a few years ago, with rising fuel prices, in an industry with increasing red tape and without light at the end of the tunnel, I decide to take a break from angling charters. Will I go back to chartering??? Not for the time being, in the future - well I haven’t thought that far ahead!

For the last few years I have been distributing a small and successful brand of fishing tackle. Great fun but something was missing! When you come from a background of fishing daily to sit behind a desk and sell fishing tackle, it does nothing for your bite to strike timing! 2008, and with the tackle distributing going just fine, I felt it was time for a change, I needed to do a little more fishing, and this is where this Blog fits in. I currently write quite a few words each month for Boat Fishing Monthly under several titles including ‘Inside Information’ a where-to-go small boat feature, and ‘Secret Angler’ a port review feature which is New in the magazine starting in July’s issue, out later this month, but despite my regular magazine scribbles, it has been a long time since I have wrote diary style and I’m looking forward to scribbling on my WSF Blog!

The great thing about angling is it means something different to everybody. To some it’s about peace and quiet. To others it’s about hard fighting competition! And to others it is no more than a social pastime – a trip away with the lads! To a few of us it is all these things and is like a drug! An addictive pastime where there is no cure. I’ve fished since I was five and I’m almost certain I’ll fish to the day I drop! I consider myself very lucky to be able to live, eat and breathe angling full time. As well as my own selfish angling, I enjoy nothing more than seeing others catch, and taking a few photographs to capture a moment in time, another angling memory. Paired with a few rough words, I hope I can and do portray what angling means to me and this will rub off a little.

Welcome to my Blog ‘My World’ a mixture of talk, reviews and a snippet of what I’ve been up to!

I hope you enjoy!

Jim
