Garmin Fishfinder 120This is a low price black & white Fishfinder but packed with performance for those anglers buying their first small boat and working to a budget.

The screen is square and measures 3.1” x 3.2” ins or 7.9cms x 8.1cms. It offers high-contrast 4-level, Grayscale FSTN display, the figures and symbols being bold black against the grey screen to give maximum contrast. The overall size of the unit is 6.1” wide x 4.9” high x 2.6” deep (15.5cms x 12.5cms x 6.6cms). It weighs 1lb 2.9ozs.

The power output is 100 watts (RMS) and 800 watts (peak to peak). The single frequency transducer is a 200kHz type with water temperature sensor built in that automatically displays temperature data without menus on screen. It can read to 600-feet depth.

The Function keys are laid out vertically down the right hand side with simple to use MENU, ENTER and SCROLL button options making for ease of identification. Both the screen and keys are backlit for easy low light and night time viewing.

It features varied display options including Auto ranging, has x 2 and x 4 auto and manual zoom options, has bottom lock, an adjustable menu, plus offers three sizes of fish symbols for fish identification by size.

The See-Thru technology facility shows weak/strong signal returns simultaneously to better identify fish from bottom structure. The depth Control Gain automatically adjusts the Fishfinder sensitivity according to depth for the best readouts, and the Power-down backup system means that the current user chosen setting is not lost when the unit is turned off at the end of the day.

You can choose alarm options for deep water indication, for shallow water, to indicate when you’re passing over fish, plus warn of low battery life.

The case is fully gasketed and made from high-impact grey plastic alloy. The unit is also waterproof to IPX7 standards meaning it can withstand being submerged to 1-metre for 30 minutes. This makes it suitable for smaller centre console craft, and for open dinghies suitable for estuary and protected waters fishing.
