I've seen a special offer at Melton Tackle (www.meltontackle.com ) for some Sperry fishing trainers (Topsiders and Figawis) at only US$50 per pair, BUT , realise there'll be an additional $45 for shipping and VAT on both cost and shipping and

if they don't mark the outside of the package with "under £32 intrinsic value" (or whatever it now is) - and they tend not to - also Duty and £13 to whoever (FedEx for this retailer, I think) for the effort in collecting that money.

So is there anywhere in the U.K. you can buy non-slip, non-marking, water-resistant shoes like those ?

I don't want (well, can't afford) to buy lots of gear from US just now so wouldn't simply add them onto a big order (so the charges are less as a percentage)

For what its worth,

Cotton Traders do an "Aqua Shoe" which has many of the features of proper standup boat fishing shoes. £25 + P&P
I can't speak for the foot-supporting qualities (i.e. how little they distort under a lot of sideways strain) but will post again after I have tried a pair.
Also , although they say non-slip rubber sole they don't (as far as I can remember) say "non marking" in the leaflet. That matters on someone else's super-posh big game boat (LOL ! )

I am going to be popping in to Navigair (Sebago importers) to pick up some new Deckies... mine are starting to whiff as I virtualy live in them and you wouldn't appreciate it when we meet up!

I get them at cost price (33% off list). Take a look at Sebago's catalogue, if you like any of the shoes let me know which and your UK shoe size and I'll grab you a pair if they have stock. I am sure I'll have room to squeeze them in my bag, along with my spinning rod, Tiger shark trace, hokkai's, casting lures, spare deckies of my own......

http://www.sebago.com/Category/N/Men.aspx

I don't have the prices, just that they aren't cheap, however you will get a third off the UK RRP.

There's a subliminal message in Roger's choice of footwear Tom. Ask him about our 2005 trip with Zak.

This cartoon just might refresh Roger's memory.

Any rate have a good one, they certainly seem to have found the Blues of Sao Vicente now.

Luckily my own deckies are actually made out of sail cloth and have drainage holes to allow out.... and in.

Hope the water is warm off Sao Vincente.
