Cheques will NOT be cashed unless you fail to show on the day.

I'll see who wants to go from the above list and then fill with a few reserves.
Thanks folks
Can I draw you attention to this thread for the Luce Bay Meet.
I'll fill Ian's boats first and then our private boats.
The places for each boat aren't finalised, I'll do it a few weeks before the trip.
Jesus I must be going around with my eyes shut, I've only just spotted this section. I should be living in Drummore by the summer, so looking forwards to putting names to faces, in the Clash perhaps?

Go on then John :sun:
Are you bringing your big boat over to Drummore when you retire John or selling it ? If you are bringing it over fancy a bash at this comp then ?
Manx and Geordie, what a fish catching combo that will be :fishing::crazy::drunk::sneaky2::roll1:
I sold the boat at the end of the summer John, and a couple of days before I was offered redundancy bought a small ali boat. So I'll bring that over too I think. Where I'm going to put it I don't yet know but its just the job for a beach launch, and there's lots of places that need a good looking at.
Sorry about hijacking your thread Bigads I owe you one in the Clash

Hi Bigads
Just picked this thread up, dunno how I've missed it.
I really fancy coming along - sounds a great meet, I usually take the late bank holiday week off so I'll be in the area for the whole week.
I'm based at the Isle of Whithorn, so it's not too far to trail the boat round to Drummore - could even drive the boat round if the weather's OK.
What’s the entry fee/rules/craic for guys bringing their own boats?
Chris

By all means bring your boat over, the more the better. If you bring your own boat there is nothing to pay m8.
I'll be adding more details closer to the trip, look forward to meeting you.

I arrive back in Drummore on the Sunday after dropping my daughter off at Newcastle airport, she is returning to Sydney after a brief holiday with us.
As far as the boat comp goes on the Monday and Tuesday Toonfireman has cordially invited me to fish it with him in his boat "Joshua". Really looking forward to it. Apart from the actual comp it will be good to put a few faces to names as well as scoffing a few bevvies with you in the Clash :)
What are the comp rules by the way? Is it a species hunt???

Water temp still a bit cold for the bass to go chasing spinners/plugs. Even "Freddie the bass" my Drummore bass sensai has only taken 2 schoolies on poppers  Bigger fish are being taken on bait at the mo though. Crab and razorfish has accounted for a few.
Another two weeks and I will be out for a few hours everyday, weather permitting

I'll wait to see what Ian thinks later in the week Ade, forecasts change all the time these days. He can launch in a few differant locations.
Hi guys,
I'm going to tie up a few rigs to Ian's Tope pattern in the picture. I take it thats what is needed so I'll be going to GAC sometime this week to get the bits. Half a dozen should be enough? Probably a stupid question but what is the zip slider for, to attach a balloon ro some other float?

Hi Keith
The boom attaches to the main line and is to hang the weight off.
My own preference is for a 6-8 inch tubi boom as it avoids more tangles as you lower to the bottom and adds a little more protection to your main line when the tope tail is thrashing around. See below
http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h317/IanBurrett/tubiboom.jpg
I have 1 spare space if anyone fancies it, you could come for 1 or 2 days. Priority will be gicen to someone wanting 2 days though....unless i have both days filled....if that makes sense. :D

Try a google search "Drummore bed and breakfast". Also have a look at Ian Burretts "Onyermarks" website. He had quite a comprehensive list of accomodation on there.
If you are really stuck give the owner of the Clashwhannon site,Martin, a ring on 01776840632. He has a small camping area at the bottom of the site.
I would have taken a few bodies into our caravan if the wife and sister-in-law were not with me!!!
Hope this helps  That clock is ticking down team! Will be picking up my rag worm from Frasers tackle shop here in sunny Whitley Bay :whistling and driving over on the Sunday.
For those attending and anyone in the area, we are all trying to meet up in the Clash bar sunday evening for a few shandys and sort the coming days fishing.

hi kevin
The trace we use is 6ft of 150lb nylon followed bye a 30lb class swivel followed bye 1ft of 150lb wire with a 6/0 o'shaunessy or equivalent hook.
The heavy nylon makes it easier on the hands to land the fish.

Tight lines to all. Couldn't make it myself as Pelamid will explain in detail. I lost out to the Horse Trials at Blair Atholl, without a fish in sight. Next year, make sure the two events don't overlap, or stop the Toulouse to Edinburgh flights!
Its not looking good, the winds blowing a hoolie.

Hi Kevin, Was good to meet you mate, and surely you can't be THAT gutted?? :):):)

It was great to meet all the guys again as well as some new members I’d never met before, and those I’d known since the forum was created but had never actually met.
Once again, huge thanks to Ian, Matty, Spike and Andy for all their hard work over the 2 days of the meet, and second thanks for Matty for putting up with the “mod crew” for 2 days.
Huge credit has to go to bigads for all the hard work he puts into getting these meets organised, I know it can be a headache at times but you can bet everybody who attends the meets really appreciates all the work you do to getting them sorted.
Roll on next year’s trip, can’t wait!
I had a great time again - thanks Matthew for finding the fish for us ( a great skipper in the making) not forgetting Ian, Spike and Andy. Well done Adam for organising the meet and big congratulations to Kevin for his cracking bass :victory:.
Looking forward to next years meet already I just hope we get the weather :boat:

I'd like to thank all those that attended and our skippers for the meet. I think everyone had a great time with a fair few shandys being consumed :D
A mention needs to go to Kev, Spike and the lads on his boat for their efforts catching and releasing such a brilliant fish. Well done fellas!
I'd also like to thank crisdafish, Norrie and Toonfireman for making the special effort to attend with their own boats, we had over 20 members this year.
A final note on species we beat last years total of 23 by 3 giving us a total of 26 species, next years target is 30 :D Top species boat was Matty n' The Mods with 17. ( I have a nice box of hooks for you Matt :D )
Thanks again and I'll get some pics up the morn.

Special thanks to Grandpa Burrett for confusing my lack of experience with stupidity, you'll get me next time maybe mate as yes, I can be that gulllible somtimes.
Even more special thanks to Matt for keeping me drier than Bigads and Millser, especially as I left the floatey suit bottoms at home, and forgot the wellies too.

Well I arrived at our van on the Clash site on the Sunday tea-time. I would have arrived earlier but for the fact that I had to drop my daughter off at Newcastle airport for her flight back to Sydney
I had a bit craic with some of the lads and Shaun and Roddy(Ciderman) came over to the van and had a bevie with me on the veranda.I really enjoyed the banter in the Clash on the Sunday night and from what I can recall I believe we had a "late one"

For those of you who were in the Mariners cafe on the Monday morning for breakfast and heard the "animal fight"out the back I can clarify what happened. Sandra and Shaun own a bull terrier and it managed to get a grip on a puppies head and fractured its jaw. The puppy had to be destroyed!!

It was a real shame about the wind and we were all stuck in East Tarbet Bay for the duration. I could not believe the mountainous sea just off the Mull..Anyway I was fishing with Tom(Toonfireman) in his boat "JOSHUA". We really struggled to pick up mackerel and just got enough for a rubby dubby bag. After about an hour we hauled in the anchor only to find the bag had parted company with the chain, that was our toping scuppered !!!

We then went closer in using bait and lures to try and pick up a few different species. Tom did best and picked up quite a few wrasse and pollack and doggies and also got an edible crab into the boat. I did less well but managed to pick up two pollack on one drop.By five we had had enough and headed back to East Tarbet

Tom dropped me off at the Clash and said he would pick me up next morning. Ten minutes after dropping me off I got a bell on my mobile from Tom."Snatcher I have lost a wheel off the boat trailer and need a hand". I drove down to Terally to find Tom looking for the offending wheel and noticed the 60/70 yd gourge in the road. Tom borrowed my car and went back to Sandhead to collect his spare wheel. All turned out fine in the end.

On the Tues morning we launched on Sandhead beach right in front of Toms caravan. He did not want to risk taking his trailer onto the road again.Mackerel were not a problem this time and we quickly got half a box. We anchored up by the Ardwell bouy and waited for the tope action - it just never happened. On lifting the anchor to try another spot we managed to lose our one and only rubby dubby bag again!!

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k38/snatcherphoto/R15.jpg
Things were looking very bleak by two pm with no fish in the boat.Check my catch report book. The highlight of the day had been feeding one plucky fulmar who was even attacking a black back at one stage. Tom then picked up two doggies and I eventually struck into a bite which proved to be a 7.5lb thornback. At 3pm we decided to head back to Sandhead beach as Tom did not like the look of the weather. Tom was correct, the retrieval did prove tricky and Tom nearly broke his hand in the process.

Concidering the weather conditions we done really well to get 26 different species. I understand that my thornback was the only one as well.I really enjoyed the presentation back in the Clash. Well done to the winners. It was a pleasure meeting some of you guys for the first time.Roll on the 2009 boat meet.

We all know who caught the bass!
Keith had his first tope and not too sure who had the gurnard.
I managed a tope during the last seconds - which ran off 200metres of line and still wanted to bite everyone in the boat - bloody b*tch fish!
Who has got the rum?:drunk:
Had to go down to North Wales to get my bass and a couple of bream along with another tope. That's why I am late adding this.

Young Morgan holding my catch - and it went home with him. His reward for being his dads (the skipper) crewman for the day.
I got the Gurnard mate, ohh and that late tope you got didnt half take off. i thought we would have to up the anchor and chase it.
It even took a liking for Spikes waders.
