Got a few hours in this afternoon, fished the Border Complex, Meridean Canal peg 10 as it was the only place sheltered out of the wind.
Baited up close to the opposite bank and in the margin to my left, using caster, red/white maggots and corn. Switching between pole and swim feeder.
Started on caster and immediatly started catching Roach and Rudd on the far bank fishing hard on the bottom with the pole, left the margin swim alone but kept trickle feeding until about 3pm when i switched to corn and fished close in, straight away the float dissapeared and a good sized fish decided to do a lap of the canal and smashed me on the first run.
Changed hook lengths and upgraded to 4lb again float went straight away resulting in a barbel of about 2lb after this the swim kept producing barbel all about the same size aswell as several carp to 5lb.
Last chuck in resulted in a Carp of about 7lb. No keepnets are allowed so cant give an exact figure but a conservative guess would be a bag of about 40lb so not a bad day after all this cold weather.
