We have a 3 man canadian canoe (coleman 165 i think it is). Its a bit unstable to fish in the sea in anythin other than a flat calm day..
Can you buy outriggers for them? Ive searched and searched but cant find any info on them. Are we better making one ourselves (big inflatable banana/blow-up doll?:whistling) and has anyone any ideas of a fixing mount to attach it to the boat?
Ive asked this a while ago in the boating bit but thought i might get a better response in here.

I had a look at Anglers Afloat Forum and found the following links for SOT kayaks, but perhaps you can use the ideas for inspiration for the Canadian Canoe project:

Maybe better to find a Canadian Canoe forum and then search for Out Riggers on there.

here's the link....expensive at $400 but i'm sure you'd be able to knock something up using high pressure plumbing pipes and a couple of mooring bouys!!!

aye cheers lads, some good info'links there. the 400 bucks one looks the boy but its too pricey for us considering you can make one for a fraction of that price. will post pics once i get round to making it.

Take a look at this site for inspiration.

We have had 3 summers now fishing from our Canadian (Old Town Camper) and I haven't found any stability problems. OK, you don't want to be standing up, but we have managed to fish in quite rough weather. We have found that if it's not too rough to launch from the beach without getting swamped, it's OK to anchor up and fish. However, we never venture too far from the shore.
