View Full Version : Saving for a Kayak at the moment
Hi guys
Saving every penny over the next year or so to get a kayak....SO want one!
Looking at all the links and posts to get info.
What i wanted to know, is are there any Kayakers in the Edinburgh/Lothian area?
Will be on this forum stacks now, and probably asking loads of daft questions, so forgive me in advance for my ignorance:doh:
Speak to you soon
Keith
Hi keef,
keep saving mate, you won't regret it ... (unless the other half finds out about how much you spend),
This forum hasn't been going too long, have you tried anglersafloat, you might find more yak fishers from your way on there.
by the way ... when you've bought her, look at double the cost for all the rest of the kit.
Cheers,
Chaz
Keep an eye out for second hand ones, they tend to hold their value well but you might just find a bargain in local papers and the like. I bought mine from someone on here, it was a proper bargain too. I agree with digit though, the cost of the rest of the equipment soon adds up.

You could probably get away with just buying a dry suit for £200, rather than a wet suit as well for the Summer.
A drysuit is comfortable most of the year, but in hot weather I wear kayak trousers, T shirt and wet shoes.
Hang on! You are in Scotland! Make that just a dry suit then!
Radio is a must, so about £100 for that.
E-bay is ok for kayak gear, PBA's and the like.
You won't regret it! It's such fun for any age.

Do it! Save, save, save, and buy the best kayak and gear you can - no point getting a crappy one then having to upgrade! My yak was just shy of £1000 and another £600 odd on gear (decent paddle, VHF, PFD, Flares, C-TUG trolley, Roof bars for the car etc...) Kayaking is a great way to fish, or even just for a day out paddling!... be safe and enjoy!
Thanks for all the encouragement guys. Im up to £120.00 so far, so I've got a HUGE way to go, but at least I've started.
I reckon I'll be buying one this time next year:clap2::clap2:
