Do not buy a kayak on impulse! Visit a site such as www.anglersafloat.co.uk Ask lots of questions , get to some of the demo and safety meets , theres lots to learn but the rewards are great:clap:

Well i have worked on boats, shrimpers & trawlers, also i used to do lots of canoing incl white water. I just make boats now (Seahog). Also done my fair share of small boat fishing. so not a total novice.

Yeah, I've had experience of the sea. Yes I am taking a VHF course. Yes I can use (and have) a compass. Yes I can manage an anchor. Yes the Coastguard knows i'm out (and where and duration). I carry spare anchors, VHF, Compass, Flares, Drogue and wear drysuit and PFD. I have GPS/chartploter/fishfinder installed and catch far more than I ever did ashore or on the riverbank. I haven't had tope or conger yet but a lot of the UK kayak anglers have. These are all pics from the UK.

And great pics they are. Was a bit thrown while scrolling down them and a Perch pic came up lol. I also like my river & lake fishing.
