Anyone seen the fishing cannon in the classifieds?

love to see one work.

YOU will need a firearms cert as this has more than 12ft lb kinetic energy
and i think the home office would not be happy

Approved by Lincolnshire Police's firearms and explosives department, apparently, no firearms certificate required.

Maybe not but if a scrote got one and pointed it at you and asked for your wallet, would it be classified as a lethal weapon?

I may not get as far but I'll stick to casting my weights out to sea with a rod and line and a wee bit o' technique.

If someone took a pointy stick and did the same thing does that mean we burn down all the trees to stop people being threatened with them?

Anything can be abused and become a lethal weapon, especially if your name is Steven Segal. ;)

Dont think it would take Steven Segals skill to make a mortar like cannon a lethal weapon, any brainless tw*t could kill with it.

In the end I think it takes away the skill of angling, next thing we will be coping the carp anglers and using remote control boats to deliver our baits. Thats so skillful:thumbdown

You guys cast like cannons anyhow!!

If they wanted some DVice "Bullets" for their cannon, I'm sure our cunning products manager OneCodBob could come up with something. We actually had a light hearted conversation about this in the office a couple of weeks ago! Hate to think what a 1lb Dvice would cost, mind!!

My remote controlled helicopter works fine with 6oz. Its just a quetion of how far you wnat to send it before letting go.
Anything up tp 600 yds is ok.
Could probably go the full half mile.

A bit too expensive to drop it into the 'ogin though, so just the once was enough.

A great idea but very scary to an old techniphobe like myself . Unless you have level wind on your multiplier I can see a large spinning reel being a safer option !!

Christ if it goes wrong? But its a trade off lads. Is it worth it? I would try it with some old gear first.

Looking forward to some field reports :sun:

It does specify fixed spool only!!

I reckon it would be best used for clearing a patch of beach to fish at Eastney!! One shot down each side, sorted!

i met the designer bloke at bridlington this year after he had just been banned from using it by the organisers,he was not a happy chap,to me its just evolution of angling some will want one some wont ,its just the same as using a hazel twig and moving on to the latest century or conoflex carbon fibre muscle pole,as far as i am concerned an anglers skill is reading the weather ,water conditions and fish holding areas distance casting is just a tiny part of the whole picture,as for you snatcher you could use it from the back of your van get a cup of tea and watch the rod from the window ,but please do use a fixed spool:victory:,and i cant remember which member mentioned peeler crab delivery,he wraps bait and rig in a pva bag and some crab oil i think he said it was ,a very good piece of equipment for a specific purpose but i think the price will put most anglers off,you could get 2 century rods and still have about a 100 quid change

I presume it works on the same principal as a pre charged Air rifle with a large transfer port from the valving. The small holding tank on the bottom looks very small and will probably have to be filled after each launch ‘with a scuba tank’. I have a 7ltr tank and wouldn’t want to carry that any distance but with a 3ltr 300 bar buddy bottle I think you could manage the weight. The price is a bit over the top though. I know several gun smiths that could knock one up for about a ton but then they aint relying on its sales for there living. It makes me wonder if the old spud guns we made as kids would work. Then again you may want to keep all your limbs.

A bit pricey for a large bore airgun, I`ll stick to my balloon launch, I get 300 yards and more out of that,,,,,,,, and it works out about 5p per cast
