View Full Version : Fishing for Pike near Aberdeen
Hi All
Just looking for some good pike fishing places near Aberdeen, i have tried Aboyne Loch(caught few small ones) and Loch of Skene (no bites), so just wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere i can go that holds pike, i have asked around but the advice i get is to 'ask around'!?!.
Sorry if this topic has been covered before and thanks in advance for any replys.

Welcome to the SEA fishing site mark.
I'm not sure if it has been covered before as we usually talk about saltwater swimming fish but there is a few on here from your area that might have the answer

there is also pike in clatto [dundee] up to 14lb and other course fish good luck finding them though toughest venue i have ever fished but if you hit the right sopt on the right day you will catch some nice fish.
Hi M4RK
Aboyne loch can be good, yes there are a lot of small ones but also some bigger ones too I have had them to 24 1/2 lb also plenty of other coarse fishing.
After April 1st Loch Kinnord just past Dinnet is open for fishing, have had a lot of double figure fish there up to 31lb but you have to put in the time and know where to go, though most places will produce.
Abyone loch m8 some corkers of pike caught out of there last year think thats one of your best bets plenty of silvers in their also inc. some nice big Ide :)

Was to loch aboyne last week, 4 of us was fishing for pike.My mate had 1 run but was to late to get to his rod ,which resulted in losing the fish.
Was speaking to a local angler and he said there are hardly any fish there now as some pollish guys have poached the loch and eating every fish they caught.Boy caught them once and they had killed 15 pike to EAT.
The loch is being took over or managed by some one else in a couple of weeks time.
Thanks for all the replies....i also spoke to a local angler from Aboyne who advised me that it was near empty, he said it gets stocked before the holiday season for all the caravaners etc. I have tried Loch Kinnord but walked more than i fished and got COVERED in ticks, they were all over me.....not a nice experience!
Thanks once again.

Hey m8 what do they stock it with exactly the pike that are in their will stay in there (no one is gonna eat them) and there are a few big pike in that water and not to mention lots of jacks dam 2 years ago i caught 3 whilst fishing for those dam Ide lol jack pike on double white.
He said they will stock it with a variety of fish - this is so when the caravaners are fishing they catch something and will return the following year. I was going to head to Aboyne this weekend but dont think i will in this weather, trust it to snow when its a holiday weekend!!
Gonna eat my easter egg instead:happy:

I have never been bothered with ticks there, if you keep to the paths on the north shore of the loch you shouldn't have too much of a problem. Will have to get out there again this year , if you are interested I can show you where to fish I also have an old bathymetrical survey of the loch giving the depths and contours.

Hi Millser
Cheers that would be great if you could let me know of a few spots - Thankyou.
The last time i was there i didnt keep to the path hence walking through a jungle with only jeans, jumper and trainers....i was trudging through really marshy ground with tall weeds.....hence getting covered in them little buggers........only got myself to blame though...im a ****..
Looking forward to fishing there again, keeping to the path this time!!
Cheers
