15lb mainline

Hi all,
im not into carp fishing much but i have some ultima f1 (titanium) in 15lb would this be ok for a mainline for general carp fishing of fish around 3-14lb? if its too heavy is there a cheap coarse line that i could use? also the line's diameter is 0.32mm

In coarse fishing that would be rope mate. For carp around 3-14lb which is normally the range i fish in, i use 6lb maxima chameleon, it absorbs light so it is hard to see under water. But is strong enough to cope.

If your not confident with playing fish then id say maybe start out with 8lb line. 15lb would be ok if your using hair rigs but it will limit your casting. But for general float fishing light line is better.

forgot too say, i will be using this for hair rigs not float fishing... so would it be ok?

It doesn't really matter what line you use as the fish will only feel the hair. The heavier the line you use the less distance you will get, the same as sea fishing. I personally would go for 10lb line as it gives you strength and good casting.

Also it depends what size lake you are fishing, if you are using heavy weights (1-2oz) and casting a long way then 15lb is good.

hi.. a good quality 15lb line is best..going to light for carp is not a good idea,,heavy leads ,snags and heavy clutches all call for a good poundage line..cheers andy

after a few losses,i now use sufix tritanium on the river for barbel and carp.should of added it is 15lb as well.tried lighter,but snags and zebra mussels made losses too easy on anything lighter.spoke to some mates and they use the same poundage on the river:thumbs:use a lighter line on the hair though:icecream:
