Hi all,

Were up and running on this years PRTP Charity Fishing Open. We already have an amazing heap of prizes for the raffle including another brand spanking new Perception Fishing Kayak. The first prize for winning the comp is lots of kudos from the other anglers and the posession of that magnificent hand crafted silver trophy by Mike Shorer. Im going to have to prize it from Judges grasp in time.

Full details at the link below. Sponsor forms, rules and the poster are all available to download from the following link. Please print out the poster and put up in the local shops and help spread the word.

All proceeds go to the paddle total paddle weekends charity pot and then is split equally between the RNLI, The Chestnut Tree Childrens Hospice and SurfAid international. We gave away £12,000 last year and the RNLI sent a letter stating that their share was roughly the equivalent of saving three lives at sea. Well worth it.

Thanks all

This one is getting closer, will be a lot of fun, is for all the right causes, and will co-incide with very possibly the main run of Brighton smutts. Hoping to see a few of you SE boys down there. We have the weather sorted so there shouldnt be a repeat of last years rather wet meet. Likely species - Bass, Mackerel, Garfish, Scad, mullet, Black Bream, Smoothounds, Flounders, Sole, red mullet, Corkwing and Ballan Wrasse, Pollock, eels, Shad.
Do you need any other incitement??

How quickly things change..... No squid at the marina, all gone. Been replaced by those pesky bass..... :(

This competition is racing upon us, and in response the marina is getting very "fishy". Still no takers from the sunny Southeast? Brighton is only an hour and a smidge from the Dartford Tunnel. Looking very likely this match will co-incide with the smoothies as well.

Make sure you get plenty of sponsorship, then you can copy judge from last year. Winning the trophy and the brand new Perception fishing kayak. The trophy is kept for a year but the yak is yours.

Remember the yak and other prizes can only be won in the raffle. All money goes to the paddle weekends charity pot. Help us beat last years £12k record.

Without being rude or big headed but if I win I don't want the trophy, I have nowhere safe to keep it.

Well, after your last competitive event on the marina, I suggest you start looking for somewhere....... ;)
Getting quite excited about this one. With the first of the spiders peeling, the timing might be bang on for hounds in the dark hours!

Your getting exited, its going to be my first fishing trip away from Essex in months, I have taken the previous week off to collect bait, crabs for the hounds, whites and maddies for down the wall fishing, lug and rag for the flat fish.
I have also prepared a winning speach (must make sure I bring it and not the 'I declare this bridge open speach')

Fished it last night on the crab for the first time this year. I didnt get any but I saw half a dozen come up, although none looked bigger than about 4lb or so. Bigger ones should show up about the 5th July......
Just remember, sponsorship means Prizes.......!

Sorry for the delay.
To start with I was doing okay as my game plan was to catch as much small stuff as possible before it gets dark and the hounds take over. After the 1st hour I had 2 pout and a small plaice all over the 18cm mark which meant points. Thats where is stopped while SJP took over with a couple of bass biggest 42cm and a small smoothie. Then SJP got a hound worth a couple of hundred points while I got a small smoothie worth 31 points. In the mean time Ash had phoned and informed us of Fishyrob catching eels at the start of the pier. By the time SJP had his 2nd decent smoothie all I had caught was a pin whiting but I still made SJP wait to measure his fish as my 20cm whiting was measured. Finally I got into the hounds with a 3-4 hound but by this stage of the comp it was to late as the fish just stopped biting.
did win a couple of prizes on the raffle a 10ft beachcaster which I gave away to Crazyplums kid and a mightybright t-shirt and mousemat.
At least I got another 2 species to my species list this year, was a bit disappointed that I didn't get a ballen wrasse.
Total points 306

Cheers for the maddies, the pout and plaice loved them, shame the hounds or eels didn't go for 3 day old dead crab.
I also missed 2 slack liners which could have made things interesting.

HI mate, been trying to get to selsey for a month now, but all the times my fishing buddies decide to go, it clashes with when i have the kids, or when i've promised to take the mrs out, or even when she's working the night, so i get stuck here or local! must try harder!!
