I dont buy this paper as its always about coarse fishing, but my mum had it under the coffee table, think it was this months (thurs 1st April), there is an article by someone in there bitching about us lot, saying about fish we take, how we all take all fish.. and how they and game fishermen have to pay for EA rod licences when ALL coarse fish are release and 75% of game fish released, also goes on about how we take lots of fish to cover costs and even make money, mentions selling illegally to restaurants.. Its a bad bit of press for us, and excuse the pun but ANGLERS/FISHERMEN are all in the same boat and they shouldnt be slagging sea fishing off basically saying that we are raping the seas for more than we deserve and financial gain...

I personally take very very few fish (mostly because of the size!) and all the guys i know are really good with conservation etc, OK we all want nice codling and bass for the freezer, but if i worked out my cost per fish, then i wouldnt be sea fishing for a profit like they state..

It really gets on my back when people turn on their own kind like this, ive had the same regarding fox hunting and shooting.. anyways, thats a different rant!

Thought i would let you all know, The article is 90% s**t stirring and 10% bitching about NFSA..

Thoughts on a postcard please..

Moved to Shore Fishing as it should get a few more readers and replies.

I think that the answer to that article lies with the name of the author, and going by recent reports regarding him being the 'Voice' of anglers when he doesn't even know how many fillets you can take off a fish says it all in my opinion.

it could be a wind up.

they have to remember though.

they pay there licence so that the puddles can be stocked with fish for them, to make it easier for them. thousands of fish in a pond that cant get away and they still cant catch them.

try standing on the end of a rock in the middle of winter casting into water that might not even have any fish in it.

The money we spend on a rod licence doesn't get our ponds stocked we have to pay for that with club funds generated from subs and raffles etc..

Don't read too much into that article i wont as i do sea course and game fishing. And i know that that is not the view of us puddle chuckers.

As soon as you read the Words" Keith Arthur", that's when you know the article will be sh*** and should be ignored. The man is an attention seeker who will say controversial stuff just to get people talking about him. And Look, it's working AGAIN !!!!!

Keith Arthur is billed as argumentative, opinionated and often right. Well, 2 out of three aint bad

He used to contribute on the AT forum and he was pretty obnoxious and unpleasant on there. I`ve never met him but , surprisingly, opinions from those who have is that he`s a pretty nice guy in real life.

well if he has such a problem about us taking fish home and not paying for a licence, then why dosent he convert to "proper" fishing

so would i be be correct in thinking that the point he's trying to get across is,because i have a freshwater licence i should take my fish home, but because i don't have a sea one,i have to put them back:fishing:

Its written in typical KA language. I find its not always clear what he is saying sometimes. Its clever writing and undoubtly he would have been a politician in another life.:headhurt:
However, I think he is actualy congratulating sea anglers for getting something done to protect our the sport without having to pay for it. Unlike the freshwater fraternity who have to pay a rod licence and still get nothing done:wallbash:

It doesn't matter if the date was April 1st or any other of the 364 days, the fact that it was Keith Arthur talking about sea fishing means it can only be rubbish as he hasn't a clue what sea angling is all about.

I have watched a few of his Tight Lines programs when his guests have been well know Sea Anglers such as Alan Yates and the stupid questions he asks make you wonder if he has ever seen the sea let alone go fishing in it, but he is in his element tiddly bashing in some puddle for money.

I'm not sure if he is objecting to having to buy an EA License or that we sea anglers don't have to, either way nobody is forcing him to go fishing in puddles and he can always decide to switch to doing some proper fishing, but it wouldn't surprise me if he gets sea sick in the bath.

Money Money Money. Thats All It Is Ever About. I Do Carp Fishing But Originated In Sea Fishing 12 Years Ago Or More And Have To Say That No Way Should There Be Sea Licences. I Dont Sea How They Can Govern Every Coast And Creek Anyhow.
I Will Be Joining Forces With Wsf To Go Against It!!!!!!!!
