Hi folks i will be fishing the Gower, end of may. How far back from the waters edge, will it be ok to fish from . Some photos on this site, show anglers fishing with rods on tripods well back from the water.
Tight lines, cheers Dave.

i'm sure someone more local wil answer, and i've not fished down there much, but i recall being on rosilli bay (the llangeneth end) watching every 7th or 8th wave surge up the beach about 30yrds! it's ok if you got boots, but not wise to have tackle strewn everywhere (as i found out in cornwall! )

as mr plums said, llangenith is your best bet, fish it up to 10.8-11metres(swansea scale), any higher and your running up the beach.
fish it from 1.5 hours before low up, easier if you have chesties on.
rigs are 2 hook flappers, flourocarbon hook lengths to size 4-6 hooks for the golden grey mullet with mudrag on the end, size 2-1/0 for the bass and flounder with lug and clams doing the business;)
check out the south and west wales pages - ther's a shedload of info there already and if you post a thread you'll probably get more opinions than you need!
best of luck

Leave the tripod at home, pack light a few weights and a couple of hooks in your pocket is all you need. Use a light bass rod get the waders out or even the shorts in the summer and hold the rod in the surf. Use a bunch of maddies for bait and away you go. Keep mobile and you will be rewarded.
