View Full Version : Your favourite place to fish, with photos!
I fish all over North West Wales, and there are many venues that are great for certain fish. Some venues are good at night, others good at low water, and others at high. But, the most productive marks might not be your favourite mark!
I have caught more fish at other marks, but my all time favourite mark is Dinas Dinlle in North Wales.......

My reasons being, stunning scenery, clear seas, solitude at night, and variety of species. Bass, Dogfish, Dabs, Flounder, Plaice, Thornback ray, Bream,Whiting, Codling, Eels, Bull Huss, Smooth Hound, and this year for me, a big fat Tope!!
What is your favourite venue, please include photos.
Without a doubt the Helford River in south west cornwall. Stunning scenery, variety of species inc bass, giltheads and thornbacks...

For me it has to be the Uwchmynydd rock marks near Aberdaron.
Awesome scenery, with challenging terrain both above and below the water line !
Sometimes great fishing, sometimes not. The rumble of the water when the tide is running, even on a flat calm day - incredible.
And opposite there's Bardsey

Well worth a full day fishing. Fantastic!

Somewhere on the Purbeck Coast - Wrasse, Pollack, Bass, Conger, etc. Its my favourite spot and the secret will go to the grave with me :D

Aah! Memories. I was there in 1976 (at the campsite in the distance). I used to go snorkelling off the beach and the fish you could see ..... incredible.
Yes indeed .... a gorgeous area.
(Do they still net salmon in the Menai Strait?)

Nice picture MarieK. You can actually see the mountains of Mourne from the end of the Mull of Galloway on a clear day.
Went there on a day trip from Stranraer last year and you really have a beautiful island. Just loved the NE coastal road :)
Mind you when I was at the Giants Causeway thought I had stumbled into Japan in error
Mountains of Mourne Backdrop!
Superb!! That is what it is all about!! Why play golf???

suppose it has to be pevensey bay, sussex, for me, it's my usual haunt anyways. there are many species we don't catch (ray, huss, dogs -rarely- and wrasse) in the bay, but it can be a beautiful place for sure.
Not the best fishing, but I do love it on the salt marshes of the River Blackwater in Essex, especially around Goldhanger and Tollesbury.

Favourite places always seem to be on the west coast. This one is in Wales -
http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k63/Pelamid/SurfStDavidsV2.jpg
Saint Davids Head in distance and a nice surf rolling in. Caught a few bass just into darkness.
Or how about NW Scotland?

Last rays of daylight and a fish.
Should add the shore marks in the second photo are along the rocks in background. Loch Torridon, the narrows area for pollack, a few small cod, mackerel and launce.

This is one of my favourite venues. The picture was taken 2hrs into the flood. I have fished and collected bait from here for over 40yrs, as did my father and his father too. This place is magical. It is a local 'creek' flowing in from the Swale estuary. Have caught fish all year round, including, Flounder,Eel, School Bass, Mullet, Whiting and even small codling have been caught on occassion.

Borth is a village on the Ceredigion coast. It has a long shallow sandy beach and is a place of many moods, from this:

It can fish well at times too but I must admit the chill-out value on a nice evening is a big reason to go down there :)
