--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A 'heads up' on this one lads and lasses... Your Country needs You !
The Welsh have declared the venue for Match 6........ Ginst.
13th of July 2008. Meet at 9am- start fishing 10am-celebrate another victory at 4pm.
A fabulous mark that could throw up a fish of a lifetime for some of us.
A good call from their Cpt.
We the England Team will take up your challenge Andy.
Would you also agree that the battered old cup, that's presented to the catcher of the longest fish, can now be called the 'Alan Wright Trophy', in his memory.I'd like that.
Team England.............

Pat,
I would have liked to have added to the rank and file, but I am already commited to a club match on that date.........
No doubt there will be another time when I can assist in making England the dominent force in UK sea-angling.......

Just to to remind you all Roamer as normal is organising the raffle, I know there are some cracking prizes already on offer. What you may not know that this raffle is being held to raise money for the ALZHIEMERS SOCIETY.
I suggested this as my sister has this disease and it is really terrible to see what it can do to people. My brother in law , who introduced me to sea angling but now only only Game fishes , has donated a used ( but in mint condition) ABU 10,000 two speed multiplier circa 1970's . I would expect this reel to be a collectors item in the near future if not already. Please make the effort to attend this meet and don't be shy when it comes to buying the raffle tickets .

SO the motor has an intermittent lecky fault, well thats what the AA are for ain't it ? LOL Still one little hurdle to sort out, so only 50 - 50% chance I can make it.
So whats the crack with Ginst then, flatty and bass rigs, roughly what lead will hold, I have a hooley of a job to find all my tackle its still pretty spread around in mates homes. How many rods can you fish, how many hooks ( Not that I was considering longlining ! LOL )
Do you have to be pure English ? or will 50% qualify ?
Baits will be whats in the freezer, unless I can buy some fresh rag ? and I bet black lugg will be a defo bad bait cause I have a ruck ! Can someone add a list of local tackle shops / bait suppliers ( PS. I will sound Welsh when I order, bound to get fresh then ! PMSL )
WHat fish count, is it weighed, measured, species allowed, catch & release ?
Is it a long shallow beach or a bit of a gradient ? How far is low water, is what I am getting at. I ain't no good walking a mile then shuffling every 3 minuites up a beach, and as much as I might like the thought of Patster carrying me, is a bit bigger than him ! LOL
I don't do comps, its against my religion !

50% English is more than enough Sal, 25% Gypsy and 25% Bosnian make up the rest ?
Flatties/bass and silver eels are the targets.
Bait shops.......Country ....01792875050
.....................Rogers.......01792469999
.....................Mainwarings...01792202245.
Maddies and rag -----crab n sand eel.
Lead...... differing opinions here..... flattie leads 2-3 oz.
Casting out not necessary for these and silver eels... Hitch your knickers up (please wear some this time) and paddle out to the Ooooo depth and drop your lead.
If your gonna cast out your full distance (30yds) 4-5 grippers might be needed.
I will not be able to carry you,Queenie is going to break one of my legs.
However I have a wheelbarrow.
A steady 1/2 mile walk is all that is required to reach the waters edge, Reg says so... blame him if it's wrong.
No rules apply..... as many rods/hooks as you can manage.Measure and release is the norm, unless your gonna take for the table.

Silver eels !!!
20lb pike ? no problem, eels of any discription will have me screaming like Snags when you nick his pasty ! ANd how the hell is anyone supposed to measure sommat that has the ability to throw 'snot' off in knots ????????? YUK ! :yucky::yucky::yucky:
If Reg says its half a mile thats good enough for me, I seen how much tack he carts with him, if its the same Reg ! LOL I will bring me tackle trolley --------------- for me butty box ! PMSL

I ain't owning up to my ancestry, ( approx. 50% Welsh 25% Welsh / English and 25% roamer ) but I am glad I ain't inherited the notable trait that is so stereotypically demonstrated which is a lack of humour when any form of jest is directed westwards !
Thats put very politely as is the reminder that getting personal is certainly not what makes the world sea fishing go round !
So much for a friendly get together !:offtopic:

Congratulations to all who made this one, the best showing so far......
About 52 Welsh and 18 English turned out on what turned into a hard fishing day.
Sections of the beach produced schoolies and Golden Grey's,doggies and flats from other areas and a 31/2lb bass was the fish of the day.
Bad luck(or local knowledge) put the Welsh on the fish while our lads were mainly in 'dead' zones.
Bait ( fresh peelers ) proved a problem, shop bought, dead and small ones, were the best we could get.
3.9 mtrs was the total length of the English effort, leaving us well short of the Welsh 11mtr total.
All the doggies were Welsh hooked, that made up most of their total.
Cracking day,all of us suffered from the sun.
Thanks to all who traveled long distances and helped to keep these 'matches' friendly, competitive and good fun.
Till the next one then.................and an English victory...
