How good is this buddy? Even got t'interweb all the way out here! Been checking the weather, looks like you've got it almost as good we have, shame there's no water here for me to get a session in!
I've had them out of there before on floating bread, although the number of times you'll have a number of them polish off all but one piece (and you know which one that is) makes it far too frustrating! Keep planning on getting down there more but just never seem to make it. I've seen loads of them around the Cruising Club and the shallow areas close to shore around that way, on the north bank. There are also loads of small fish (bass or mullet?) that cling tight to the shore in a few inches of water. They're clearly there because if they stick to deeper water they become lunch so I really must get down there for a bass session at some point. Easy to use carp stuff for them with 1oz or so of lead.
Any sign of any smoothies or roker off the coast for you yet?

Hiya Scott, hows it going? Can't you find a river and get all-round defence going? A company should be about sufficient for a session. Just invite the CO and it'll be fine - you may even get air support from the yanks and if they miss you'll be able to scoop up the fish
Going to try and get out again next week after them on a still evening when I can see them topping. Match rod, float with size 12 hook, harbour rag with a fly tied above the float as a backup. Damned things drive you mad.
Haven't tried offshore since you came out but went down the Alde with Billy for Bass for a cracking session - few more weeks and you can join us.

River? It's that bad you couldn't even float a yak in it!!!
Good luck with them mullet, they go a bit on a match rod I can tell you. Probably better off with something with a touch more juice behind it, the stepped up match rods for carp would be good.
I've hooked loads of them in OB when using my pole. First thing you know is about 1034ft of elastic flying out the end before the damn thing leaps half a dozen times and then heads for the lock, followed a nanosecond later by the elastic flying back as the hooklength goes! Right pain in the rear they are. When I fished matches there we must have been the only people in angling that tried to avoid catching mullet, only ever got one in at about 4lb, a baby compared to those that are in there.
If you try on the inside of the Cruising Club moorings ther are often loads of them knocking around there, probably due to bits and bobs being thrown overside by the boats. There's even a handy mooring post for you in the middle of it, you'll see what I mean. I've seen some monsters in there that look to be approaching double figures (thick lipped I assume) sat under the boats.
I'll give you a buzz when I'm back and we'll head out for some sessions. I quite fancy trying around the legs of the Claremont for some bass, especially if we can get some livebaits live launce or macky.
