Might be worth trying wales! The wye is still capable of producing a few fish!
The Usk seems to be the best salmon river at the moment. The areas around Abergavenny last year were very good.
Merthyr Tydfil AA have some cracking stretches in this area also check the Wye and Usk Foundation for more information.
Hope this helps.

Bin Yep wye and usk foundation!
There are salmon river in NE Scotland that charge 30 quid a day during the grilse run. Places like the Deveron. In march you can buy a day on the spey with a ghillie for a tenner!

Is that with or without the ghillie's whisky allowance?

If you want to catch a salmon for me you cant beat Ireland. With cheap flights to knock you cant go far wrong fishing the river drowes. Stay with Shane at The Lareen Estate where a weeks fishing and accomodation will only cost about £200. Been going there the last 9yrs and never blanked and i'm no expert. If you want further info have a look at his website. drowessalmonfishery. Was out there 1st week in July when river was very low but still caught 8 grilse.

Yes , its not fly fishing only. methods allowed are spinning, worming and the locals favour shrimp fishing. The river is only 5 miles lock and is fed via lough melvin. If you stay at the estate you can fish all the river and the top mile and a half is private for anglers staying at the estate. There is no beat rotation so you fish where you want when you want.
You can also fish the sea pools but there is an extra charge for this. They can fish very well, its any method during the day but fly only in the evening. Accomodation is in nice cottages that sleep from 2 up to 6 anglers right on the river. So you need to have at least 2 anglers to make it worthwhile buts its very good value. Spring fishing is excellent and the river gets the first irish rod caught salmon most years as documented in trout and salmon mag. Grilse start running mid june till august and there is an autumn run of decent fish given water in sept.
Its a great river... I fish each year for a week late june/july never blanked. Have a look drowessalmonfishery.com
