9. some sort of puffer or butter fish.
12 and 13. not sure but caught a few in jamaica
11. looks like some sort of snapper, again common in jamaica
8. as you said is some sort of parrot fish. Had a few in jamaica. Quite hard to pull in when they turn on their sides.
7. is a baby version of 8. which is a yellow snapper i think. jamaica again :P
6. is a different species of parrot fish. Didnt have one of these in jamaica though. very pretty fish
2. is some sort of coral trout or rock cod.

Most of these are just guesses based on my fishing abroad. Just out of curiosity, what bait do you use. I did well in jamaica using bread and size 4 hooks.

You might find a site like http://www.floridaconservation.org/marine/fishid/ would aid identification, particularly with the mini Snapper and Grouper species.

11 looks like a Bighead Sand Perch. 4 might be a Baqueta. You might find some more of them if you trawl through this site.

The one not immediately obvious from those links myself and Lucky have provided is number 6 which I'm fairly certain is a tiny Bermuda Chub. And 12 looks to be a Mutton Snapper.

I think Dave's spot on with the Mutton Snapper. Number 3 is a Queen Triggerfish.

dave,

No1 is a yellowtail, very tasty.....

No.3 red grouper....i think, i had one which jumped in my hands and kebabed the palm of my hand with it's dorsal spines, it ached for days

No.6 is one of the grunts, possibly a white grunt...

No.12 looks like a pale coloured mangrove snapper caught over sand, def not a mutton....

caught loads of these in the keys a couple of years ago fishing on the dock at our digs and from the boat in the channels

Les I think you mean No. 4. No. 3 is definitely a Queen Triggerfish.

I went on a two week diving holiday to Belize last year and was frustrated at not knowing what all the fish were called that I saw... so I bought a superb fish ID book called 'Reef Fish Identification Florida Carribean Bahamas" by Paul Humann, ISBN 1-878348-30-2.

After scanning through that, Im pretty sure that I can identify almost all of them, so here goes;

1. Yellowtail Snapper
2. Coney
3. Queen Trigger Fish
4. Red Grouper
5. Stoplight Parrotfish
6. White Grunt
7. French Grunt
8. Redtail Parrotfish
9. Chequered Puffer
10. Mahogany Snapper (juvenile) could also be a juvenile Lane Snapper
11. Red Porgy
12. Schoolmaster (juvenile)
13. Pic is not really clear enough for proper ID but is a snapper or porgy of some description.

Hope this helps!
