i was just thinking which is better for trout both have advantages
fly is stuttle and can miccmic what they are feeding on where as bait has the smell and natrual look to it
also are there any laws on bait fishing for trout id rather catch them a fly myself but when fishing rivers i get the odd one(returned of course)

In Rivers,

when river is high or coloured: bait, worms especially.
High but not brown, spinners, large
Low or clear: Fly or small spinners.

hope that helps.

a maggot added to a wet invicta or sea trout variant like teal n blue is a good mix or a caddis on a size 16 3lb tippet is a hard combo to beat
worm fished from fly tackle tends to lead to a lot of missed bites and mauled worms especially if using lobs brandlings are better suited due to size imho on a size 12 hook , if you use lobs hook once through saddle and dont be in a rush to dstrike as fish sucks it down .
