View Full Version : SAS WSF Intercounty Friendly Meet
Hi all,
Shoreham Angling Squad is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our third WSF Intercounty Forum Meet on Saturday 20th September
I think everyone had a good time last year, so we have picked a similar tide at same time of year and the same venue - Widewater Beach
For newbies to the forums, in this event is first and foremost a friendly get together with the chance to meet other forum members, learn some tips and skills and above all have a fun day with the chance of some fish. As last year there will be hot food and drink available both before and after the match included in the entry fee. There will be charity paella auction too for the gourmets amongst us . There will also be a raffle and some prizes in the usual categories. Any money raised will be donated 50/50 to the RNLI and Chestnut Tree House childrens hospice.
The basics to date are :-
High tide is at 3.20
The tide height is (6.03m)
Food etc 10:30 - 11:30
Walk off 11:40
Fishing will be from 12.00 to 5:00pm
Further details will be posted on this thread in due course but please make a note in your diaries and bring the family!
Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible - updates will be on the Southern forum Meets Matches Section http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1263845&postcount=1
cheers
Steve

Depends on who else is going I might even give you a lift.
I don't think team Essex will need much more (maybe SJP as he is a laugh to fish with) to win the comp again.
I have an A plan and a B plan for this year match.

cheers mesito,
Just had a chat with Jassyfa and we would like to confirm that this will be a Team from the South East Forum, there will be no splitting into Team Essex and Team Kent ar any others and we both feel that every member of the South East Forums are welcome to come along for a good time and to win for Team South East, Lets just keep it a social event and please do not take the banter seriously, it is all meant in the best possible way, was going to say taste, but taste it won't have:fishing:
Spoken to J too....bridges mended!!!! Count me in too.
Spoken to J too....bridges mended!!!! Count me in too.
Trouble is Steve we have all known each other for a few years now and have been on a number of meets together consequentially a level of banter has come about and we all tend to forget that some of the newer members may not understand the humour and we all hope that no one takes offence because none is meant. So I hope you and everyone else will excuse us when we make a mistake, we very rarely mean it.

Friendly banter is part and parcel of the whole fun of the event - nobody I know takes it seriously. I hope you can all agree to come down as the SE forum and have a cracking day with us (there may even be some fish! lol). You're all welcome and breakfast will be ready and waiting.
I'd be grateful if those that haven't already indicate their intention of participating just to give us some idea of numbers for catering purposes.
Cheers

As you are from North Essex i was thinking youi sorting oput a lift with SJP as he is from Braintree.
Alan T and myself both live near each other, (westcliff and Eastwood) but one of us will have to pick up Thames Rover (grays). Treeman comes from (Burham) so he could leave his car at either myself or Alan T house.

Despite being both a member of SAS and living in Sussex, I suppose I had better stick to my roots and fish for the SE team. God knows they need it. None of them was properly rigged up to catch the Dog Toothed Tuna last year, and had they showed, they would have stormed the match.......!

Really couldnt tell you as I havent a clue as to what sea conditions are like.
Chaps, unfortunately I have just booked the plane for my next Eastern Europe trip and I will be out of the UK from the 9th September, until the 24th September. So I wont be fishing for South or South East. Shame as it is prehaps my favourite meet of the year.

As I have a couple of days off I decided to actually make some rigs for this comp. 20 rigs which must be a record as I usually make them up when im at the venue or just use old rigs.

Hey everyone, i will be at the meet with jeff 1960.it wiil be nice to see some old faces from essex and meet some new ones.
Not long to go now looking forward to it.
Went bait digging in a new area today. Some prime rag dug in just under 2 hours.
I have made sure I am on holiday for the widewater match so I will be back digging some more rag for this match.
I presume most of us will be using rag and maddies as the main worm bait, as if I recall lug did not do to well last year.

Species reported locally; flounder, mullet, gurnard, sole, mackerel, garfish, codling, bass, thornback, pout and whiting. Not all sizable I hasten to add and some on night tides, but plenty to get our teeth into.

Guys, its a long drive down for just five hours of fishing. If any of you fancy it, I think a few of us will be going on to Seaford, which fishes well over the low tide, after the Widewater experience. If you dont fancy it, dont throw any leftover squid or worm away. If you wont be using it, I will happily help it find a fishy end.......
Likely fish bass, codling, whiting, pouting, and a fair chance of a decent sole.

Thanks for your reply anyway Alan
can anyone give me the postcode or address for tomorrow at widewater.
If you put BN43 5LS in your Sat nav follow the road up to the top and turn right and go in the left car park
