Spoke to bill from topcat they are looking at possibility of trip to aberdeen, but this late in year weather may be factor due to it needing to be good for him coming down the trips and getting home.I think even if it does not happen this year would be good for 2009.

gents
Sorry for the delay in replying, struggled with work computers logging me in and a busy night shift spoilt any chance of a reply.
This is the situation. I have been a deep diver around NE scotland for about 20 years, diving to 50-80 mtr regularly. Along with fishing, which I am fanatical about (hence Aberdeen Fieldsports, set up to offer fishing tackle at as reasonable price as we can, mackarel traces from 40p!) I enjoy searching for and diving new wrecks. Although I do less of this now as I am a busy chap I am still in with a group of deep divers who are very sucessfull at finding our local wrecks. We have literally discovered and dived dozens over the years. We have discovered and dived wrecks from about Lossie through to south of montrose. However we really specialise in the Peterhead and Aberdeen/stonehaven areas. The group actually own the Ramera, a 12000 ton liner in 65mtr off Fraserburgh! We all use rebreathers, equipment that allows us to dive deep and makes no bubbles, so does not scare the fish. We also take a lot of video.
So my plan is this. No skipper will make a long journey into an area for a days fishing, fuel is too expensive. However if we book a boat for the Saturday, dive and video the wreck and then also charter for the sunday for fishing we can search perhaps 2 deep wrecks, video them and then on the sunday give you the dvd of the wrecks, you will clearly see the features and fish on them. (ok, and i would like you to buy the tackle and bait from me but that is another story)
We have GPS marks for many wrecks and some of them, many indeed are covered in fish. The WYNOR, one of Bills uns is covered in very large congers and ling. The 5 mile wreck, off aberdeen is covered in large cod and pollock. The South wreck, (Glentannar) off aberdeens port marker has some superb flatties on it, we took a 8lb plaice off it some years ago with a spike and we have had monks to 45lb!
We also have a large hardboat in peterhead marina. It is set up for diving so has a very large open rear deck area, is littered with the electronics to find wrecks so would make an excellent angling boat. I am sure this could be used in the same was as above.
So that is my plan, I think we may be a little late for this year, but could still be done if we all get enthusiastic enough about it. I guess as a minimum it will stop you fishing wrecks with few fish on them (south wreck).
No reason why this could not also work at the shore sites, indeed this could be easier to organise, we could even pick up your lost tackle for you! I had planned to have a recycled tackle bin in the shop, for weights and muppets and the like.
So, over to you, what do you think.

Looks good, can you post up any vids of the wrecks you mentioned?
Sounds like an intresting idea.
looks like a trip worthwhile especially monks up to 45lb would be like draggin a tesco bag thru the water
