Hi all,

I fancy doing a night session at the narrows the night of 8th November. I've had a few people PM me recently, interested in meeting up so i thought this might be a good chance to meet some new faces and old ones too. I did have other plans for that day but they have just been cancelled.

Rough schedule i was thinking of was, boat over about 2.oopm Saturday (means we get set up in the light) then fish the night and struggle back to the boat with all those large Cod for pick up 7 ish Sunday morning.

Would need to know numbers fairly quickly so that i can make sure Pete is ok with a booking.

What do you think?

There is a thread on the south east and south coast for a meet at Orford on the same night. There could be a lot of WSF members fishing orford that night

Hi John,

I'd like to get out that weekend, so count me in. About time I dragged myself onto the beach, and as it's now sleeting outside it's really got me in the mood!
Cheers,

Don't expect to much of the South East lads to turn up. They all want to go and fish Kent the week after. Its really nice to make an effort just to be sh*t on at the last minute

Haven't been able to speak to Pete personally but left a message with (i assume) his wife to confirm 10 of us for 2.oopm next Saturday. Don't be late as usually Pete won't wait. I'm assuming as i paid £9 to go to the narrows last week that it will be the same next week.

See you all there

John

Thanks Jason, if anyone does get caught in traffic hopefully they can bunk in with your crew, how many have you got. I was thinking that your lads might get the easy walk, as your coming later, then any over that are being picked up at 4 will have vacated.

James, thanks for the info, wish Duanne a happy birthday for me, hope the boat trip goes ok. If it does turn out rough and your trip is called off and bait is burning a hole in your box then you could always join us.

I believe the numbers are around the 5-6 mark, not brilliant but quality is always better than quantity. I have no problems with any of your late comers joing us after all we are all there for the fishing and the bbq (you are having a bbq ain't you?)

I know fires are banned, not sure about the bbq's as I have seen the remains of them over there. I have also seen some very impressive fires over there in my time.
Fished there about 6-7 years ago and it was freezing, although I had a beach buddy and floatation suit. The squid never defrost and the paper covering the lug froze. people fishing 100 yards away had the most impressive bonfire going.

:)metcheck for Aldeburgh says wet and windy, take wet gear plenty of food and stuff to anchor down your bivvy etc.

Rough sea + November + Orford+ good company = a good time and Cod

Scott if we get time i might stop off at Saxmundham and pick up some heavy grippers just in case to hold bottom

Hello

You can have bbq's, as long as you can guarenttee that the heat from the bbq doesn't go into the shingle, can you put something between the bbq and the shingle.

The reason is that, we have some very rare invertibrates that live in the first 4 inches of the surface.

Many thanks and have a good session fishing...

Looks like winds up to 26mph s/w so it will be off our backs. I presume we can set up on one of the ridges and not at the top of the beach.

midi
05-11-2008, 20:35
hope to set up on the second ridge to b sure
if you can get a clean spot or after cleanin up the area you be in as it was a tad bit messy at the crouch other week so the narrow will b just a messy.

its going to be s/w so it will be behind your back. If you set your gtent up on one of the ridges instead of the top of the beach you should be ok.
