Also put down one extra person as my son's friend wants to come. Don't know why as after scoffing all the food on the last beach clean he was in the tent before dark and didn't surface till the next morning. Really keen fisherman in the making.....

That's a shame Ron, we'll all be thinking of you sweating away in all that heat whilst we freeze our wotsits off, current temperature in Ipswich is -1. :cold:
I will be thinking of you all when Im sitting next to my pool having a beer, which Im just about to do :P
I'm up for the clean and all nighter, I might also have a friend to bring but will know for sure after the weekend.
I've not been before so don't know anything about Pete's breakfasts, I'm tempted to say yes, simply because after all night in this weather I'll kick myself on the boat back if they look lovely and are hot (I can always decline next time) how much do they cost and what’s in'um, and are they hot by the time the boat picks us up or just luke warm and a bit limp?
An all nighter in this weather, especially without access to the car or any form of retreat from the cold, has got me wondering about how to best beat the cold. I've got a floatation suit which should be warm with thermals and jumpers. Would anyone opt for chesties instead, I suspect not as it cant be too comfortable to wear them for that many hours? I've a cheap and nasty beach tent thing, which might stay up if the wind aint too bad, which might keep me out of the worst of the wind-chill. then I'm thinking a large flask of coffee (with not too much whisky in because of the drive home in the morning) and lots of chocolate to munch on! I'll dig out a balaclava beforehand and get spare batteries for my head torch as well.
Anyone got any other ideas of things I should bring? I've not done an all-nighter for over 30 years, and then it was not as cold as I expect it will be in ten days time.

hi pete firstly floatation suit perfect ,wear warm clothes underneath, also its a little treck accross shingle/beach so wise to keep down to bare essentials, a tent will be fine as its really to keep worst of wind and rain off, hot drink and soup would be ideal also, will have to contact regards parking will post accordingly, great bunch coming over so anything you find you need im sure someone will have it , dont think brecky will happen as not enough wanting it as of yet, should prove to be a good nite gonna have a thermal blanket in car i think to thaw out after returning lol, dont think there is anything else but im sure the guys will post accordingly,
lookin at weather side of thing for the 13dec 20mph w to s/w winds with some rain

James, instead of breakfast could we have a personal defrost service please.
Hi lads good to see we have started to gather in numbers for this chilly but productive event.
First timers just to give you an idea of what might be required for all nighter here is a list of what I take.
Thermal boots
Flotation suit
Good tent or bivvy
Min 3 ltr of hot drink or water
Camping stove +spare gas
plastic rubble sacks to anchor bivvy
MOD 24 hour ration pack
and all the usual fishing kit
Just remember to keep it under 1 metric ton:showoff:
Can't wait to get stuck in and see who is..... Unbreakable

im not that kind of guy !!! lol :bounce:
if we put all our lamps in a circle should generate enough heat for you john lol
gonna have a good spare set of clothes in the car i think as a back up,
I'll be bringing my mate Jez with me and I'll stand for a round of some rather nice chocolate brownies in the car park when we get dropped back on Sunday (might even leave a flask of coffee in the car in the hope it will still be warm)
On the way down on Saturday from Cambridge is there a tackle shop somewhere I can get half a dozen 8oz breakaways from? The Huntingdon tackle shop just does carp stuff as did the St Ives (Cambs.) shop that I think has now closed! If not I'll try getting some online.

If you can hire a small boy to carry it, you will still have some energy left to fish..... ;) The donkey idea was the best one, but Pete reckons the boat still stinks after the incident when the donkey got very scared climbing down the ladder. (Donkey...... or Edgey......?? So long ago.....)
There is not a hope in hell of me making it along to this one, so I just wanted to wish you the very best of luck. Looks like you will have a stiff Northerly airflow once the traditional "Clean-up" gales have passed through. Gonna be plenty chilly, lets hope its plenty fishy as well. Big tides and coloured water, you will have about the best of the conditions. Happy wombling!

hi adam your more than welcome to tag along, we will be leaving orford quayside at 1pm, returning on morning ferry gotta ring pete but hope to be 8am , if youve never done the island a good idea is to pack what is needed not what might be needed as its one heck of a treck in deep gravel, warm clothing goes without saying floatation suit :cold: or similar with extra layers under , easier to take layers off than put on if you havent taken them, tackle wise and bait 6-8 oz weights as tide does rip through, some shelter bivvy tent or brolly as can be bitter and unforgiving, plenty of fluids preferably hot , between all of us we cover most things , lug rag and squid for bait , the island has deep water close in so sometimes your casting past fish so no need to be world class caster, im in ipswich so if you would like lift or share car let me know, its a good session with great bunch of guys

The Mail Server has been problematic over the past 36 hours so there is a chance we never got the mail, especially if you sent it through the Contact Us form.
Send it again and it should come through this time.
With the new server move a few problems are still in the process of being ironed out.
