It's a mid-range tide and we'll be fishing from low water up to high.
Low water being about 12.15 ish.
Meet and greet is in the car park by the beach at 10.00am onward.
It's an easy venue for the less able among us, with the beach straight out in front of the car park.
I expect a fragmented meet this time as conger marks are available on the rocks to the left of the beach, where unfortunately local knowledge may be very advantageous.
Following on from the Chesil meet, where 62 English anglers turned into 24 on the day....:thumbdown
Everyone is welcome to join us and declare their interest on this thread, but I will only add your name to the Team England list following a P.M. from you.
As usual this is a friendly, competitive meet who's aim has always been.... fish and have fun, raise some cash for charity and 'spank' the Cocky Welsh on their beach.
C'mon England....:1a::1a::1a:

Forgive me mate......... I assumed YOUR Cpt's link would be correct, forgot... never trust a Welshman.
I'm sure if you click HIS link on HIS main post you can put both HIM and Google right as well....
As regards the 20 minute walk.........
"I expect a fragmented meet this time as conger marks are available on the rocks to the left of the beach"
...just about covers that.

Always wondered about these matches....because its based on total length, and one team will always have more people in it than the other, then the smaller team will always be at a disadvantage even before the first line is cast. So, instead of making it total length for whole team, why not make it AVERAGE length per angler? Easy to work out, just divide teams total length by number of people in the team, and whichever country comes out with the higher figure is the winner, takes away the advantage of the team with the most members, and gives a totally fair result.
Just an option, but thought I'd let you know, as does seem unfair that the team with less people in it will be at a disadvantage right from the off

A fair point mate  BUT.. that is the whole 'crux' of these meets...
It doesn't matter who comes out 'the winner' !!!!
These meets were, and still are, designed for meeting, greeting, banter and fishing for fun and raising a bit of cash for charity.
They aren't, and will never become, a comp.
Besides, pith-taking and banter are what we all do best.
Lately things have taken a slightly more 'them and us' direction but both Andy and I will always remind people of the fundamental principles which got these meets underway.
To make a point..... on arrival at The Ranny with five fellow Englishmen, both Roamer and Rockling ( Welsh team members) proceeded to show us the most productive marks and the tactics to use at them........... we were all there to catch fish.
The people participating are the WINNERS, be they English, Welsh or any other nationality....... and long may that continue.:clap2:
Ps..... your added.

I'm getting worried..................... it's not just the South Wales snow we've got to worry about, but the Worcester/Gloucester/Devon and Somerset lot.....
I'm starting to get concerned about Team England's travel situation.... and it isn't just Sat night /Sunday..... but Sunday evenings, for the drive back......
I'm hoping for a big thaw before dinner time tommorrow.... or I'll have to think seriously about things....
The Severn bridges are closed at the moment.........
Any input from the Team members would be appreciated.....

just been up ewenny angling talking to a couple of the lads who have been fishing this week and we agree that the amount of fresh cold icy water coming down the ogmore has killed the fishing although the snow is not lasting it can`t be good for anyone coming down the a40 between ross and worcester and sunday evening is supposed to get even more snow i think it would be advisable if andy was to reconsider holding the meet at the beginning of march sometime afterall most of the valley boys won`t be able to fish either cause of the ice on the roads, with this in mind it would be more acceptable and safe with a bigger turnout lol but thats my opinion nowt to do with the welsh team but i seriuosly want to catch fish not just drown worm lol tight lines pat

Fair point mucca.......... the travel situation and forecasts appear to better than I thought, but the fresh water situation is very valid.....
I'll 'call it' this evening, I'm taking updated forecasts from a number of sources..... cheers .

I think the 6pm revue is a little late for folks buying bait etc...
Due to safety issues and after consultation with other team members it has been decided that the England team will not be asked to travel to the Eng/Wales meet at Ogmore on Sunday 8th.
If anyone from the England team attends the meet it will be at their own risk.
