Got to agree squidders........... These areas are our best chance of fish but a decent amount of space could be difficult to secure.
Are there still codling around? Or have the sprats arrived?. I haven't been on here for around a week and I haven't read all (okay any) of the reports.
I am trying to organise with peterpuff a team south east vs team south east match. This is basicilly the old team south east (anybody who has fished for Essex. Kent or teram south east before) vs those who hasn't.
I was looking for the spring run of cod as 1) Xmas and lack of cash for most of us.
2) Travelling to a venue only to catch rockling and pout, 3) Working out the rules and price (I was thinking of a couple of quid each with half going to the RNLI) but this can be discussed later. 4) working out the venue as the best venbues in kent and Essex are the furthest for the other team to get to (bar gravesend but can we get a possible 40 people fishing there?).
Once this match is out of the way with then i was looking at takin gon the east coast at orford as that should be a cod fest during the spring run and then the south coast in the summer when the hounds are in
How about coming to Essex for a change ? and how about some daylight fishing, some of us can't do the all nighters !

Us "newbies" will take you on anywhere Steve, we don't have trouble with daylight scratching, in muddy creeks.

Don't mind afternoon into evening, but medication etc. stops me doing all nighters. You don't need to worry about muddy creeks either, got some great marks from St Osyth up to Walton.

Well after 3 1/2 years on this site, its time to say goodbye. I have made a few friends who I will keep in touch with.
The reason why I am leaving is because im fed up of organising meets and next to nobody turns up.
I organised the south east meet for the bloke who died from the south west coast and 5 people maded the effort. I have oganised a meet at orford and again everybody else wants to go and fish elsewhere.
I have given people hints and tips on how to fish. I have fished every match for Essex and Team south coast and for what?
Well as it says in the Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy 'thanks for the fish and goodbye'.

Hi guys,
The above is a post from Jassyfa.
Question 1... yes loads of Cod about and yes the sprats are about.
Your questions about a match are pants, xmas or not, we can afford to go fishing.
Rules and a price is simple........biggest whatever takes the dosh. RNLI doesnt come into it unless nobody catches.
Venue will be of our choice. LEADBEATTER is our leader.
The good lord put a river between Essex and Kent for a reason. We are Teamsoutheast (kent) hardcore.!!!
Above i will remind you of your past Jassyfa Loads of people gave you sympathy etc, all because we didnt fish your Orford match that once again you are plugging.
We are Team South East 'Kent' Hardcore.
Why did you not do as you said (as above ) jassyfa and stop posting and interfering.

I'll be up for Dungie on the 27th. Great meet at the weekend lads, nice to meet you all.
None of the other regional forums have split themselves into two teams and despite the small problem of the Thames being in the way I dont see why Team South East needs to be split:group:.
When the meets first started the old Kent V Essex meets were good friendly fun, but with some very good anglers on both sides Team South East was always going to be a strong team to take on all comers.:)
After all the effort put in by Mr and Mrs Urlybird to organise the TSE Fleeces I would hate to see it all fall apart because of a couple of members, and who should be Team Leader. What I suggest is that all nominations for Team Leader are sent to me via PM and I will put up a poll on a new thread. The person with the most votes becomes leader for the next year, when it can be done again.
I will put the Poll up at the weekend and run it for a couple of weeks.
Come on lads lets not let this get out of hand we have always been a close southeast section and where the meets are held is irreverent the reason for the meets is so that ever body can get together for a bit of fun and some friendly competition not out and out match fishing.

well said cascars thats the best idea ive heard on here for ages all this bitching on who fishes what team and whos meets are where and whos in what team is pure bulls**t we are all in the same sport and we all live in the same areas and anyone can organise a meet at any venue i will admit that im fairly new to the meets and the one i was at was well organised yes wayne leadbeatter has done a great job on the last few meets and it is for this reason that i have asked him where and when the next meet is going to be and he said that i can do one if i want its not all down to him and in time i may well do but i like many on here is guilty of "let some other bugger do it as i aint got time" or "couldnt be bothered" and its only the kindness of other members to help out thats made the last few meets to be as succesfull as they have been so lets keep it up and enjoy the meets as friendly fun and not let them turn into them vs us or into full blown matches the meets are as they are called a meet to meet other members from the forum and make new friends learn new tips and have a laugh with a bit of fishing thrown in not a place to bitch and throw comments at each other
there rant over tight lines all :victory:

I agree anybody can try and organise a meet on here, I haven't been to any of Leadbetter meets but the reviews have been positive and more people have shown interest. This in time can lead to a nucleus of people wanting to fish for team south east against other teams.
What does bother me regardless of who is captain is what we are going to do with this new neucleus are we going to challenge the South coast and the East coast to matches (they are our nearest neighbours) for matches on home and away soil, or are we only going to have matches against each other?
I think we need to get away from the 'Match' theme when it is just a meet of Team South East:unsure:. The idea should be to just meet up for a get together and a laugh.
Even when meeting up with other teams the competition side of it should be secondary to the meet.
Work and other commitments have stopped me from attending many of the meets and I am a crap beach angler anyway but I would like to come to more of them next year. However the competition side of it does put me off, as I am sure it does many others.
Keep them as freindly meets and they will be better attended:)

And that is exactly what I have done put ideas about possible meets and matches. As for not attending, I dont remember you at Dungie and Felixstowe during the Essex vs kent matches or at Brighton Marina and Hythe when we took on the south coast, or either match at Widewater. Im not the one causing hassle, im puting up positive ideas. I haven't slagged off your meet (read what I wrote about it on here) in fact I said it was a positive thing.

Hi cascars,
Of all the many hundreds of members on this site/forum, it is only a very small percentage that have actually turned up at the meets and LEADBEATTER has been THE man. Putting up a 'poll' will only escalate matters, because you will get loads of people 'voting', who have no intention of ever being involved in a meet or TeamSouth East.... (Kent). These people just like to read and post. A poll would therefore be pointless. I think that those who regularly turn up at the meets have already made thier choice of leader. LEADBEATTER. Why not ask THEM.
You can put as many polls up as you like, but at the end of the day it will be LEADBEATTER who will be our leader with Squidders as second in command, no matter who YOU appoint.
And i personally will be 'beating the LEADBEATTER Drum' at every oppotunity.
Like i say cascars, a poll WILL provoke a war.

I dont want to see a division in the team and thought this may be the best way to do it. I personally think that LEADBEATTER makes an excellent job of organising the meets anyway:). Just a couple of points here. Like I said before there are quite a few of us older members who want to come to these meets and cannot make all nighters, so why do you continually exclude us by only having all night meets. And since when has the Darford crossing allowed only one way travel i.e. Essex to kent ! This is Team South East and I have only known the Kent guys come over this side once and I have been over to kent and sussex on a number of occaisions, I have also noted that the Kent lads even seem reluctant to go to Sussex judging by there poor turn out at the Widewater meets. How come I can travel all they way from N E Essex to South Kent and Sussex for Team South East and the kent lads cannot even get close to the Dartford crossing. Bit one sided isn't it. From the attitude of the Kent lads it is a good job that I still have my Team Essex fleece !
Personally i don’t mind (too much) a bit of travelling, and i do enjoy meeting and chatting to other like minded fisher folk. More or less all of the guys i have met thus far from these forums have been great to spend time chatting to and have been a pleasure to fish with.
But, if i do travel i like to make it worth it; i can’t see much of a point when travelling time to and from a meet exceeds the fishing time. The last few times i have been down to meet i (and usually others) have stayed for at least a couple of days; as i will the next session (as above) 2 days and one night, maybe even 3 days and two nights at Dungeness.

Then why do you expect me to travel that far for what will be a few hours of fishing ? If we are to be "Team South East" then surely it must be fair for all members of that team, otherwise we may just as well split the forum. Essex an go with the East Coast and Kent can stay where they are, mainly because despite what is said they really do not want to mix with the other counties they seem to just want to carry on doing what they have always done and sod the rest.
Like I said it's a bit one sided ain't it !!!!!!:nono:

I do not expect you to do anything Issy; it’s your choice, as it was obviously in the case of the Dengemarsh and Hythe meets.

The reason I did not do the Dengemarsh and Hythe meets was nothing to do with the traveling but they were all nighters and I was otherwise engaged for the Hythe meet, Refer also to my point about all night meets, some of us who have medication issues cannot do them, so again why are these meets always all nighters. When you arrange meets like this you have to take everyone into account not just the few! I have done in the past when organising!

Most of them have been posted as starting at say 7 or 8 pm, so lets work that out sensibly leave Tiptree about 4 pm drive about 100 miles, fish for 4 hours drive 100 miles back home get home by 2 am. Would you do it, the Kent lads won't cross the river for a full days fishing. That is why I don't come to the present meets. I am only to willing to come there if it is worth it and I have done many times, is it so much to ask that some of the meets are at least midday into evening and a lot closer to the crossing, maybe even on this side, though it seems to me that the kent lads cannot leave Kent. I have supported many meets so far and have organised a few, I have even fishe Dungy a few times and I do not like the place, just to take part, why is it when a meet is arrange outside of Kent the Kent lads are conspicuous by not being there ?
Could it be that the Kent coast is more productive ?
Lets face it, if your coughing up all that cash for a days fishing, surely you want as much chance of catching as possible.

i dont have a problem in fishing the essex marks,i very often come over to essex having been born there i know it has some good venues and would welcome a forum meet there.

I've caught more from the Essex coast than the Kent coast, so you do see my point then driving 200 mile round trip every time costs me a packet. We are supposed to be Team South East now so why do we always meet in Kent. It would seem to me that many of the Kent lads have no Idea what is being caught elsewhere because thay never leave Kent. The last time I fished a Dungy meet all that was caught was rockling, that cost me a packet ! Not my idea of a good days fishing, and with the heavy tide run and fishing shoulder to shoulder because the place is overfished made for what in my opinion was a poxy days fishing, but, I would still travel there for a meet if I can. Why is it that the Essex boys travel and the Kent lads don't? one simple question no one has given me a reasonable answer to yet.
Dunno, i live near the tunnel, but i have never even thought about sea fishing in essex.
I just never see a report (other than the stingray) of any fish that draw me over the bridge.
Is there any deep water marks in essex ?

There are quite a few, must admit that I fish the Blackwater a loand they are all small secluded marks, so I am not an expert re the Clacton, Frinton and Walton areas, that is where all the larger beaches are that do produce very well through out the winter/
There are plenty along the thames. Plus deep water is not alway neccessary, St Osyths is a good winter mark and it is not that deep, It is a different way of fishing.
Similar to what has happened with some of the Kent members, Essex lads have been put off posting there catches by some of the daft criticisms in the past, so you will not see so many good reports. Just one of the concequecies of the loony few who think that posting reports mean that all the netters, trawlers etc in the country do not know what they are doing and have to see what amateur anglers are doing to tell them where to fish :uhuh:
As for summer fishing, Esssex has produced a Record Smoothound and Stingray, some very big bass, Thornbacks and the Blackwater has some huge mullet. There are big cod along the coasts all winter.
Could it be that the Kent coast is more productive ?

Yes but it is lot easier to go to Suffolk or Norfolk a mutch straighter run with no road works.

If you don't get the wind right at Bradwell your on a loser, only realy fishes well with a South Westerly.
I am working on a meet idea at the moment, it will be something different and will take some organisation, so will hod off for a while on a beach meet to see how this idea will go. Not trying to get out of organising an event, but will do at a later date.

Hello Issy,
I am a bit confused with some of these posts......Are you moaning that we (Teamsouth east Kent) dont turn up at other venues or that you dont want to travel to Kent?
You say in your posts that its nothing to do with travelling why you dont come to Kent, then you ask 'why do you expect me to travel', then its because you need medication (only at night), then its because of a 200mile round trip costing you a packet and finally you dont come because " Kent lads wont cross the river...thats why i dont come". Make your mind up mate.
I think that you just want to have a whinge mate just like another ex forum member from essex.
Dont know if you noticed mate but TeamSoutheast is an E-Team , its not a club, its not real, its a bit of fun, the fleeces etc are purely for fun so forum members may recognise each other on the beach and to plug WSF. If you dont wanna come to the friendly meets then dont bother, it simple.
As for not coming to Essex....well i personally not interested mate...thats my choice.....no excuses.
Our E-team leader (LEADBEATTER) likes dunge and thats good enough for me, coz i like it there too.
As for you having a Teamsoutheast Essex (fleece) i suggest you put it on mate....that way i can avoid you if i come across you. i wouldnt want my day ruined by your petty moaning.

As I have already posted, I cannot make all night meets, it is unfair that all the meets are all nighters, that excludes me, and others, from attending them.
It is also unfair that all the meets are in one place many miles from where some people live. I have on many occaisions travelled to Kent and Sussex for some very enjoyable meets, but evey time a meet is arranged outside Kent it is ignored by the Kent members, makes it a bit of a farce calling them South East meets. Meets are great, I have enjoyed making new friends and your attitude is very insular and antisocial, a complete opposite of what this forum used to be.
Oh and I am so glad that you are proud that you have driven another member from this site who has done more for this forum than you ever will! Jassyfa has organised many meets and the way you and a few other member bullied him just because he suggested some ideas for a meet was shameful, But you are happy now to fish Dungie, well as far as I am concerned stay there and we will organise meets elsewhere. I thought this was "Team South East", not "Team South East Kent"
There was at one time a very good friendly rivalry among the Kent and Essex lads, we had a number of very good meets, this was before you joined and now it seems that is destroyed, how very sad !!!!!!

I think that a lot off people share my veiws and thats backed up by the fact that i not getting a lot of critism to the anti. stick with your Essex fleece mate.......As for me im TeamSouthEast KENT (Man of Kent) and will have my fleece altered accordingly. I will try to drum up some support. Perhaps Cascars can set up a poll. Kent supreme.

don't see a lot of support for your views either Wayne
Despite Spratdabs Vision of Dungie being the only place to fish, I still feel that we should have meets at different venues, what I am saying is why are all the meets in the same place what is wrong with venues closer to the crossing and in Essex, the idea is to meet and greet and make friends. not fish the same place evert time and sod anybody who wants something different, even the fishing is not important , it is the social side which now seems to be lacking if you do not agree with some people. Leadbeater ask for suggestions and that is all I , and come to that Jassyfa, was giving. There is no need for animosity and we are not whinging, just asking why.
It is a sham that the attitude that is now showing is destroying all the freindliness that was there a year or so ago, when we had social meets for all the forum.

Hello mate,
You do have a point. Then again, maybe i just enjoy promoting lively discussion and theres nothing like going against the grain to do this. There are people on this forum who know me very well and they are sitting back laughing there nuts off at my antics on here. As for jassyfa, well that was unfortunate, he just took things too personal. Sometimes a forum needs a kick up the bum.

come on boys
stop the bickering or we will all be driven away by anger
As a Man of Kent or a Kentish Man (cant remember which is which) I would be equally happy to fish in Kent or Essex. As said before I cant get to many meets due to work and other commitments but the location does not bother me. Fishing is Fishing wherever it is.
I think the only solution to this is to alternate the meets between Kent and Essex. If you cant, or dont want to travel then you are missing out on a good opportunity to meet other members of the forum.
I dont think that Sprat Dab is representative of all the Kent anglers with his views (I hope not!) and that future meets will be as friendly as they have always been.
Urlybird travelled all the way from Essex to Hythe with the last batch of Fleeces at his own expense and in his own time simply to ensure that everyone had them. He has also gone to a lot of trouble to organise this latest batch. I think this should be rewarded with a meet that he and the other Essex guys can easily attend.
I could set up a Poll but dont see the point when it is only fair that both counties should get their fair share of meets.
The region meets have been a feature of this forum for around 2 years now and it will be a real shame to see them stop because of petty bickering. Can we now please have a kiss and make up?
Thanks, Terry

The trouble is promoting lively discussion of that sort causes more damage than good, the forum has lost a good very experienced angler who has tried his best and given some excellent advice to newcomers and beginners, was it worth it. The "kick up the bum" as you put it has done irreprable damage to the forum, it does not need that sort of "kick" That sort of kick has cost the forum many good members in the past, members of the likes of GregD and we are all the worse of for his departure.
It has cost too much.
Now lets try to salvage something from this mess and try to vary the meets so we can all attend and not we are having it here and sod everyone who disagrees.
There was a great rivalry between Kent and Essex a few years back, which spawned many friendships and a number of very good meets, that is what Jassyfa was trying to recreate, was that such a bad thing?

I thank you for your veiws cascars. They have been taken on board. I would though like to say that my veiws may not be representative of the kent boys and that they were never intended to be. So, are you coming to dunge 27/28, i will be there all DAY and night as im sure a few more will be. Dunge is THE top venue at the moment, thats the draw of the place. After xmas everything will change, the cod are on there way out, and dunge fever will die down. I have nothing personal against you Issy, why should i. My veiws may be seen as provoketive but that doesnt make them wrong and visa-versa. As for causing irrepairable damage, well thats pants. A lot of people on here 'sit on the fence' mate, if we all did that then the forum would never move. So, heres my hand and heres my heart mate. Take or leave it, its your call.

But, it has always been a very friendly rivalry !
Terry, not so sure about alternating the meets, I for one will admit that it is not easy to find venues in Essex that are easy to accomodate a lot of anglers, That is why I like it so much, many are secluded and remote. Much of Essex is also better at different times of the year.
I suggest that more of them are closer to the crossing, so that at least we don't have so far to drive. Plus, vareity is the spice of life, as an angler I find a great deal of the pleasure is fishing new and different places with different methods, if you fish the same place and type of mark every time you are really missing out.
The other thing is as I have said, not everyone likes or can make all night meets, make some of them daylight and some midday to nighttime, so us old farts can get home to bed.
Try it Spratdab you may find fishing different venues with different methods etc. very challenging and rewarding. The greatest joy I find in fishing is to hit into a good fish on light tackle, some thing you have very little chane to do at Dungy. Places such as Widewater Beach in Shoreham, a great summer fishery, many different species and ways of fishing, that meet is one I refuse to miss. Personally I cannot understand the obsession with Dungeness,, in my opinon it is not a pleasure to fish because of the strong tides and the number of people who get there, though I am still willing to fish there for a WSF meet, as meetin and greeting is the thing and not the fishing, if I want to catch good fish I would choose a far more secluded venue away from the crowds, but that is just my opinion and choice.
Having thought about it, this may be the first post on this thread that I have made which totally makes sense, got a bit carried away on some of the others and now I look back on them, I am not entirely sure what I meant at the time, hope this clarifies what I was trying to say.

Just for the record. My angling covers every part of the sport. fresh water lakes, rivers, trout, estuary, lea beachs, storm beaches, piers, boat. I fish for all species and travel all over to target fish 'in season'. I have been an obsessive angler for over 40yrs, my obsession has cost me marriages and jobs, it has also been responsible for some serious ill health. I am not a blinkered angler Issy, in fact im the exact opposite. I follow the fish mate and at the moment that is Dunge. I am also fiercly competetive. so please dont suggest i am a one venue one species angler. I have forgotten more about fishing than a lot of people could ever hope to know. I offered you a truce mate. it seems that you have declined. So you set up a meet mate., but dont be suprised if another appears for the same date........
Sorry cascars, i tried to bury the hatchet.

back to the meet then
i will need a lift from/to dover if anyone has a space for me
I didn’t think the Dungeness thing was a proper meet as such; just a couple of days where people are welcome to come along and have a natter and/or a fish. I only say that because I have heard no mention of the usual bbq, pool for biggest fish or a start and end time.
I’m up for a meet after the New Year when all are back to normal; i have enjoyed immensely those i have been to so far. But I’m not too sure about a daytime meet at Hythe. Most areas around here (I live just outside Hythe) fish better at night. Maybe someone can suggest a good daytime venue which could fish better, still with good close access and room to fit us all in.

Right, just read the last few pages of this topic (war n peace spring to mind) n think the whole thing has got a lil bit out of hand. I for one have come from essex on the last 2 meets n dont mind the drive although it is an arse, i go purely to meet up wiv u lot n have a laugh, try n catch fish n maybe win some dough, i didnt even fish at sandwich but that dont bother me either, theres always been a camarradory (however ya spell it) amongst fishermen n people will always have different views on stuff, but, at the end of the day surely we all go fishin to enjoy it.
I've met a fair few of ya now n all seem a decent bunch of blokes, always friendly n willin to give opinions on stuff, but thats wot it is, opinions, whether u like em or not is down to personal views n i for one dont really wanna argue the toss over summin thats insignificant. Local rivalry will always abound, it does wiv everything n thats good for the game but we shouldn't be snipin at each other on the forums, we all love fishin n should enjoy it wherever we do it, the views of people r personal views, if ya dont like em then thats ur choice.
If people want a kent v essex match then thats fine, whoever wants to attend does, down to them.
I believe all wayne was sayin was dungie is fishin its bits off at the mo n would be a good choice of venue, know its a trek for essex boys but i'm gonna be one of them soon n will take part but thats me, horses for courses, i'll do the drive, have fun n hopefully get a few fish, i'd be the same if it were the other way round, come from kent to essex if it were fishin well.
I suppose all i'm sayin is yeah, have the rivalry but lets not make a big issue out of it, i respect all members on the forum n hope they do the same.
Lastly, when i move to essex, does that make me an essex kent (pun intended)
