Here is the Shield that the winner will be getting:1a:
http://www.onlinetrophies.co.uk/photos/products_lg/wlc10_lg.jpg
The top scroll will be engraved with WSF South West Region and the centre section will say The George Thornley Memorial Shield. All the winners need to do each year is to get their name engraved on the smaller shields with the year they won it.
This way money will be raised for charity for the next 9 years in his memory, far exceeding the original cost of the shield. Please look after it:)

Well, I had a pleasant surprise this morning. The trophies have already arrived:1a:.
Here are a few pics of them. Hopefully they will be raising money in Georges name for at least the next nine years, with the proceeds going to the RNLI and other charities. I would suggest that after year nine, if we can keep the meets going for that long, that the person whose name has appeared most on the trophy will get to keep it.

Looks good, I'm in.

New to this forum and only just heard about the meet, so was wondering if there are there any rules; number of hooks, rods etc? or if it just a casual thing?

Sorry if I overlooked this and it was written somewhere else.

after a interesting start to the day change a wheel due to a puncture get it fixed and arriving late i decided to fish a couple of hours down from a mark left of the slip no one about might be due to no bait about in the shops and burnham angling still closed due to ill health.

so fish a couple hours down and it fished well if they are here they had to pass the light 3 slackliners missed 2 connected 3rd felt good till it snagged lost it but i did not care target species achieved one more to the 2009 species list and couple of nice yting for supper they was lovely 2

here is a few pics i took this afternoon when it was supossed to be blowing ahoolie and peeing down with rain according to the bbc they was wrong

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk1/basspopper666/cassie007.jpg

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk1/basspopper666/cassie008.jpg

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk1/basspopper666/cassie009.jpg

winds strong westerly 7.00 am went to southerly puff by 12.00pm sunny and dry looks the same type of forcast tonight all strong southerly going westerly by noon hopefully.

oh yes here is a piccie of the target species had 4 of them lost 3 slackliners oh and 5 whiting lug squid cocktials and rag squid cocktails
bite consistant would have fished longer but ran out of bait only took enough to see whats about and heer is a cute little teaser lol

http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk1/basspopper666/image5.jpg

so they are there hope they are tommorow as well and maybe mummy or daddy might pop by to check on the young uns:victory:

well done to all that made the effort the wind blew the sun shined the fish played hard to get but we got a few tiddlers off the top of tide .

wind pushed it higher than predicted and the overnight rain did not help.

but we had a good day a good banter met a few faces and raised a lot of funds for a well respected charity the r.n.l.i

specail thanks to excell for the £200 donation and to ian percivering with his bad knees and plugging away for a win a gianst stiff competition from alan . well done

i am sure pats hopeing the shield plaques are engraver proof lol:whistling

looking forward to the rematch

once agian well done all of you you stepped up to the line and went the whole 9 yds a credit to this forum all of you

i think pat said we have close to £150 raised i am not sure but he will post pics and total tommorow.

the welsh turnout at oxwich was a massive effort by them 30+ anglers and they raised about £150+ 2 flounders and a dab plus the proverbial surfer as well

great effort by all especialy those that travelled from all over staffordshire . dorset. somerset. gloucester . well done great effort and great contributions to funds raised and raffle prizes.

tight lines jake

you are all a credit to this forum well done
