Not enough spare time meant it was my 1st trip to Boringwheel for over a year and its still 1 of my favourite small trout fisherys.Plan was a early start and a bit of breakfast 1st followed by a 2 fish ticket for a relaxed morning before heading home for the festiveties.Got there just after 8.30 and just a few cars parked up ,weather was very over cast but no wind it was like a millpond although the water was rather cloudy with a torent of water flowing over the dam which could only be the forest draining off from the heavy rain over a week ago.1 st fly was a small olive gold head with a bit of added fritz (hometied), tried this for 15 mins not a single knock so moved to a small bay 3 cast bingo a small stocky, bullied at the net and hook pulled,a couple more knocks like lightning and a prime 2.5lb er was on the bank.It was slow going and hard work with the water being coloured so i took a punt out to have a good move about which resulted in a 2lb stocky taking a montana gold head.Day done and back in ,a couple of nice fish in lovely suroundings.Sorry no pics camera had eaten the batterys.
Merry Christmas

No Andy, this is off the A22/Nutley/cackle street. Its set in the ashdown forest ,has a lake of about 3 acres(and a planned speci lake), 1/2 is fishable from the bank or about 6 punts to use if you like F.O.C.You basicaly fish in the guys back garden/huge grounds, you drive in and around his front garden(which is his pitch and putt course)and park up on a old tennis court, then up by the old boat house is the the fishing lodge just sign in put your money in the envelope then post on the honesty box.As i stated it,s 1 of my favourite and i would say pretty & best small trout fisherys around.A 2 fish 3hr ticket is £20 and ive had days with just 2lb ish stockys ,ive days with fish up the 9lb.One point i would make ,any rain flows and feeds in from the ashdown forest and the water can get very cloudy after rain.
