I'm in James any week at the moment, let's all decide on a date, (nudge nudge) then secretly contact each other to arrange another date to fool the weather gods.
Oh and Adam, yes it can, December 6th 2007, a day that will live in the memory of many for years to come

You can count me in too - be good to meet up with you guys, might be able to get a few others to come along too if you need the extra help clearing up!
Depending on the date Jez and I will make the trip again.

okies all ive looked at dates and 7th and 21st or 28th march seem viable will check tides unless someone has a chart and can do it for me :ahhh:, will go with the majority on date wise. and in reply to chris the more the better, we havent done a clean up for a while so may be tad messy also need to decide narrows or crouch. same idea as before i think go over mid day ish tide allowing and fish over nite , will give it till weekend see what ideas come back and then finalize details, in the words of delia WHERE ARE U , LETS BE AVIN YA .

21st looks reasonable although my table only shows time not whether they are neap or spring.
When i was at the crouch before Christmas it wasn't too bad, although there was lots of glass in the dips in midway across. Being selfish i'd like to do Narrows but would be willing to walk up towards crouch to collect once gear has been set up if there is enough of us
Well I definately wouldn't go on the 28th, its a big spring tide:whistling:whistling
The other dates will be much better due to the smaller tides. :whistling:sun:
so let me recapp, the 28th is a definate no no for me: :whistling:sun:

:whistlingSo Scott, you don't reckon the 28th will be any good then:whistling
So that's settled then not the 28th:whistling
Any other week we'll see you down there, in fact the 21st looks really good:whistling
Hi james
Regarding orford you better put me down as a maybe, as i dont know if i will be working 6 days a week this year due to the fact my boss wants to buy all the bedding and basket plants ready made, rather than growing, so i may be able to opt out working one weekend; and getting a day release licience. Not sure about the overnighter though, it messed head up last time.(in between the snoring! -john LOL).Next time i'll remember my jacket as well.

hi mark will do , as to over nighter plan is to go over mid day so to make it a tad easier on those that will be traveling distances and not be such along day and night. bring a sleeping bag so if you do snore we can drag you down the beach a little

More difficult to fish, but far more fish present on the big springs, especially at the end of March IMHO. As its a very long way to come for me, I will happily take part if the fishing warrants it, which for me means the biggest tides you can find in that month.

DOH....... Rahter missed the point there. I agree, any day other than the 28th will be perfect. Deffo not the 28th though, as I dont want to tire my arms out.
Further incentives - Five DVices to the biggest round fish, five to the biggest Thornback Ray.........

nah head first be much cruler :sneaky2:
well it looks like possible gonna be a 28th then lol, whats thoughts on crossing time early or midday ish , im keeping options open till nearer time as wife is due mid april and i dont think she would be impressed if im stuck on island and she goes into labour ,may have to pack my inflatable dinghy lol marks suggestion was to bring her along what is he thinking  thats why we go over to the island isnt it
James, If she goes into labour on the day,it will be like jim 'l fix it.I thought you always wanted a ride in a sea-king helicopter! LOL,or likewise is that sleeping bag waterproof ?,you can paddle across on that,we can always supply teaspoons to act as paddles!.

ps
on a more serious note make sure you can get the ferryman to collect you if you get a phone call, otherwise you may not be forgiven for missing the birth.
(You may then not need to to see the doctors at a later stage, with emma doing a home proceedure on certain parts of your anatomy ).:black_eye

midday seems fine for me, easy drive over from mid morning.
Just a suggestion on getting back if needed, get a couple of deesea's sleds and strap them together and drift across from the crouch. :boat:
Alternatively get Scotty to confirm he's coming and you needn't bother coming if you know what i mean:cold:

It might just be me coming now, my m8 Jez will probably be in New Zealand for months on a snow boarding teaching course and the Mrs refuses to come until a public toilet is built on the island (fingers crossed that never happens!)
What’s the prognosis for getting a supply of worms from your contact during March John?

Hey All,
Unfortunately I can't make the clean and fish anymore as I've gotta go in for an operation on the 14th (Typical!!!)
I was however hoping to get across to the Island before my opp - I have Pete's number but before I gave him a ring, just thought I'd ask if any of you know if he takes across just 1 or 2 people or does he need a full boat??

.....hmm..... Do we have a body count? IF it is low, I have a suggestion........ :)
I was talking about this trip with my mate at the weekend and if there is still space then you can add another two to the list... We're both forum members (moofoo and splint)...
I'd be coming from Southampron and Splint from near Brighton.
Sounds like you are going for a midday crossing with the ferry - does that mean you will be coming back in the evening or kipping overnight and getting an early boat back?

Cheers Guys. It will be a long drive back for me/us so I expect we would head off in the morning. I will get in touch with my mate and let him know the details.
What is the cost of the boat do you know...?
And does anyone have a good bait (lug) supplier up there? Hampshire is good for rag but not a lot else! Might be able to get hold of some peeler but guess it is mainly a lug/squid beach...???
Will keep checking back here for updates....
Two more attendees for this one James, my bruv and a mate.
Cheers
Scott

I'll contact Pete tomorrow and confirm a time for anyone that fancies an early start on the day of the cleanup.
Anyone interested in the early start then put your name down so I can give Pete some numbers.
The idea is to go accross to the Narrows, (7am hopefully), get a few hours fishing in and then to meetup at the drop off point with the guys arriving at midday for the cleanup.
James at least 2 cars for my contingent!

Anyone wishing to come along for the early start as said before to get a few hours fishing in before we start the big clean then please let me know and I will let Pete know. John I have put your name down for the early start.
I assume also James, (banglemouse), will need to have some numbers as it looks like the midday crossing will require two trips due to the excellent response so far.
Ahem!! long range weather forecast looks good, nw 6km/h for the day turning N at night decreasing to 4km/h.

Hey Fisher, Could you put my lot onto the early ferry. Were coming a long way so we might as well make the most of it!
Just wanted to double check - we don't all need to seperately book the ferry over do we? Is someone taking charge of booking for everyone?
And just FYI myself and splint will be aiming for the midday ferry (not early one) as we are coming from Newhaven and don't want to leave at stupid o'clock to get there.....
Looking forward to the trip now.... should be a goodun!

I guess everyone is keeping an eye on the forecast for the weekend...
I see it is going to be Force 4-6 NW on Sat/Sun with a couple of showers (www.windguru.cz - lowestoft).
Having never fished Orford before, does that mean the beach will still be fishable??? I know some beaches (Chesil in particular) are not fishable over a certain wind (line buried etc)...
PoutMagnet
26-03-2009, 17:17
Yes , it will be fishable. A wind like that will be coming from behind us and will therefore flatten the sea off. It should also put a few extra yards on the casts.:victory: See you there mate, i'll be with AndrewJS.

Ideal conditions just make sure you have loads of lug, as a few previous reports show lug is best atm by a mile, and it was on the spring run last year.
LUG ME UP :)
Cheers fellas. Have got 200 lug on order for me and my mate - hope that will be enough!!!!
Must remember to bring my waterproofs!
Both Early boat crossings are now full for anyone making any last minute decisions.
Its going to be heaving with anglers tomorrow as Pete has 2 early boats 7am and 8am , both now full then the midday crosings full.
I have secured the early crossing 7am for Fishyrob +2, Viff, Cambs john and myself + 3.
Its fishing very well at the moment.
