View Full Version : Best World Fishing locatons
Hi all,
I would like to build a website of a high quality that details the best locations in the world for sea fishing. The opening page would be a picture of the world and the user would be able click on a country and discover information on species, specific locations and links to local tour operators.
I currently organise expeditions for Young People for a well known UK based charity and think that I can offer a lot to this project.
Obviously if the site took off there would be commercial opportunities but that would be a long way off.
I am keen to know what people think of the idea and whether you would find it useful.
I think it's a great idea. Too many searches in google throw up great places in the world to fish at great prices too. Personally I would like to get away from all these fishing packages that exist and have my own agenda. An impartial website that details great places to fish, times of year, places to stay, lodges etc. would be very informative.

Ecofish: check your PMs
The big risk is that the list of quiet, quality affordable fishing spots very quickly becomes a list of crowded, expensive and over exploited fishing spots.
There are places that I fish abroad that I'm prepared to tell people about. There are others that I'm not.

Hi Ecofish. You have a very good idea there.
For some time during our "Harris Angling" years, Sue and I tried to persuade the editors of the various angling mags that there was an unexploited market for such a mag.
Then along came Voyage de Peche aimed at the French speaking market. This mag really dealt mainly with French ex colonies which frankly don't get that much publicity outside the French speaking world. Incidentally some of those destinations are red hot and from what I hear well worth a visit.
But no one up to then had tried to do a similar job for the (much much bigger) English speaking market. Maybe things have changed since we left UK in 2005 I don't know.
But an on line mag with its much lower production costs must be worth a punt. All the big names advertised in Voyage de Peche, so why not an on line English mag.
If you do decide to go ahead, you can put our resort down for an ad. We have brilliant fishing here, lure bait and fly for pretty well all the Carribean species. Take a look at our website www.steppingstonesbelize.com

Affordable ? Where was that mentioned ? In my experience, the sort of places EcoFish wants to advertise never get thrashed particularly. I have still to go to some of the world's best places, and doubt I ever will. They're too remote and expensive for me and thousands of others. Only the very dedicated and very thoughtful get to go to those very faraway locations, and most of the time the fellas who go to places like that are extrememly pleasant and like-minded. Unless a 727 flies somewhere twice a week 98% of the world's fishos can't be bothered to do the hard yards. Thankfully.
And ultimately, don't bother submitting your favourite destinations if you don't want them advertised !
Chris - good to see you here, hope you and Sue are enjoying your retirement ! I hear really good things about your operation. You never know, one day maybe.......*sighs with pensive thought*

I should add that I'd love to go BACK to some of the places I have fished, but probably never will.
One place I would love to visit again is 60 miles boat ride away from somewhere that is 1200 miles away from civilization in the first place ! It is a place so isolated that the first time I went we could not even get inside the lagoon, and the only sign of life was a wrecked long-line boat on the outside reef.
Fish ? Cor, were there some fish....... highly unlikely anyone had ever fished inside the lagoon, ever !
And at 7,475 miles away from where I sit right now, I doubt if I will ever get there again !
