Is this a beach mark or is it accessible for a wheelchair? Just curious as I never manage to get to any meets due to the marks they are held.
Just a thought.

Is access to the pier off the main road just where the main road goes up the hill? (I don't know S/Q very well)

Had a wee sess with my mate Hugh Today. Fished low (11am) to 1/2 tide. Started at the point (or at least just west of the island). 2hrs after low tide tap tap on Hugh's rod - nice flounder 3/4lb. But alas that was all there was in the session. Did try of Craigy pier/slip for last hour -wind got up to a fair chop :cold:- but nothing more. Packed up at 4pm.
Still twas a good we tester for a fortnights time.
Looking forward to it

PARKING
Re Iain's (The MaltMan) point about parking there should be enough spots - large car park at RNLI station just west of rail bridge, few spots (3-4) between bridge and Craigy and say room for 6 or more if every body parks tidy etc at Craigy.
Harry Lynch Ltd doing some repair work at dry end of Craigy slip today- fencing up.. if this is away (guess it will be) by 14th room for 3 or 4 more places.
Toilets to be found at Hawes pier -suitably sign posted
:boat:
RNLI PARKING; -please be aware there is a reserved parking area (not v. well maked on the road) just 20yds to the east of the Hawes pier Brae Rd B924. - ->Do not obstruct these bays please! <- -
2Twist - do you want to put this RNLI parking reminder upfront on your first post on this thread?

Is there definitely room to get the car down? If the ground is heavy going to get there I might struggle with my rods and box. I just want to clarify before I get there.
I don't mind having to push a fair bit as long as the ground underneath is not soft or muddy.

Dougy - solid all the way!!
Was there today - only thing is remember is that if your at Craigy that its a slip as is Hawes. you have to move up/down as tide comes in /out. Craigy is a bit uneven /bumpy but not to o bad i would have thought! Yes can get a car down - but likewise you'll have to come back/go down with the tide.

Craigy pier looks like a billiard table compared to St. Catherine's mate although it does look rather steep. I guess I'll need to wear my floatie just in case you go scuttling down the slip at a fair rate of knots
I think it is essential that you get parked on the pier as it looks like a fair old jaunt from Hawes pier to Craigy pier. :showoff:
(have a look at it on flash earth)

I'm really looking forward to this meet and hopefully I'll manage to double my species list :lmao:

I was actually thinking about something else which is slightly :offtopic: but is there anyone who needs to get their volcano kettle from Big Al.

If there is anyone still needing theirs collected and they are going to the meet I could possibly do it (as long as they have paid for it)
I could meet Al, pick up the kettles and bring them through with me.

Just a thought

Cheers

Craigy pier looks like a billiard table compared to St. Catherine's mate although it does look rather steep. I guess I'll need to wear my floatie just in case you go scuttling down the slip at a fair rate of knots

Is there definitely room to get the car down? If the ground is heavy going to get there I might struggle with my rods and box. I just want to clarify before I get there.
I don't mind having to push a fair bit as long as the ground underneath is not soft or muddy.

I hope you have your fork at the ready Iain as you will need it for your worms.

You will need to watch your tweed trousers don't get ripped as well as your tights but I am sure you will manage something.

I might be very slightly older than you mate but I still have my own hair and teeth.

I did blank on my last outing and the one before that but time will tell at the end of the year when we tally up our species list.

If anyone is taking a camera, try and get a picture of Iain (The Malt Man) in his floaty suit if he can find it. He bought a brand new floaty suit but he doesn't want to get it dirty or wet so it in kept in his loft. He actually had to buy a new headlamp to find the thing so if it does make an appearance, please somebody take a picture as I will get it framed for him.

How about a bit warmer weather and Bellhaven/Thorntonloch beach. Distance casting not needed, all can play! As from today i'm mobile again, with room in the back for barbie, gazebo etc. Will lend a hand.

What a pitty about the horrendous wind as the weather was fine otherwise. Looks as though it could be a productive mark in better conditions. Well done to Tommy  for setting up the meet and as Karl says, 10 out of 10 for perseverance. Glad you caught mate, maybe your rockling will soften the blow to all your gear that got damaged.

Karl suggested to me that there may be more shelter from the wind on the jetty behind the lifeboat station, so Dougy, Declan and myself headed over there for an hour or so. It was a lot more sheltered (good shout Karl ) but the problem was that the boat that docks there kept going out and in every 10 bl@@dy minutes and I'm sure the skipper was doing it on purpose just to keep our lines out off the water :bones: The highlight of the day was seeing the lifeboat being scrammbled :busted_co and coming back soon after with a mum, dad and little kiddie who apparently got stranded on Cramond Island? How irresponsible can people be sometimes especially with yesterdays conditions :nono:

Although the fishing was near impossible, it was good to meet up with some other forum members and put names to face, and well done to all who managed to put bait in the water (even for a short time) :clap3:

I guess the pressure is now on for RAECHEL to set up the next meet, so come on girl what's keeping you?

Unlucky with your rod John  but all is not lost, Greys will replace the damaged section if you have the rod registered with them, I think there is a £35 charge however.

Untill the next time folks
