Oops! Trouble with that link, so no images yet, but had a tough but fruitful day (in the end) at Stowting lake on Thursday (22 Jan 09), the day before my birthday. After arriving in drizzle around 1pm, I tried allsorts to tempt the rainbows and browns, eventually having success with a suspended buzzer in the surface film. I'd seen a few fish broaching the surface so thought I'd give it a go. Do buzzers hatch at this time of the year? I don't know, would have thought it far too cold, but glad I used one. He was a 1.9lb rainbow, very sleek with a huge tail fin and in excellent condition. This eleventh-hour result (as dusk fell) was followed with a trip to Deal beach to meet a friend where I swapped dainty fly rod for muscle-bound beach caster and we both pulled in pin whiting; rockling, dab and pouting, eventually rained off around 10pm. A happy (birth)day's fishing indeed. The East/South Kent coast had been recommended to me in preference to the North side earlier in the day by the guy in my local tackle shop, Ron Edwards :notworthy. So good advice indeed. Not whoppers, but a great result on the species front.

Niiice. Dont think I have ever fished Coarse/Game and Sea in the same day. Could turn it into the 'Sportmans Challenge', a trout, a coarse fish and a sea fish all on the fly, with 24 hours!
PS Happy birthday for t'other day
Sound idea Sleep1981 - let's hope it catches on!
