well I went practice fly casting in the snow when I had the day off on Monday - had close to a foot of snow in the park ...
tide was right out in London so the bass didn't show :'(
just got back far to cold wish never bothered
I had a bass 48cm on worthing beach 2 days before the snow arrived and saltfish had 2 smaller ones so what a bummer, thats the last of the snow down here.

do you know bob moss personally gee , ( think ill try get him up for the comp ) that aggregate way is a great idea , will we have a phone no to ring or get a witness when catch the fish , i still dont like fish to the scales jobbies , but understand if money involved why it is done . dont really know the best answer to it ( worried when mike has his one in weymouth ) because 200 average pluggers will hit a lot of bass that time of year .My hopeless answer to it would be have a runner or two on phones ( as all marks are within 7 miles our way ) get it witnessed by a neutral, camera and tape it ( we all know rough weight to size ) and put her back  What are your thoughts sir
Plugs & Runs
08-02-2009, 19:15
A runner mate? I suppose we could employ pig for that job? lol:bleh:
I am thinking a close double will take the top spot, as for the rest of the guys common sense usually takes a big part in any comp. With a three pound limit restriction as a minimum, maybe until the interim weigh-in on the second afternoon there may be a fair catch of fish. But after that, everyone should be aware of the target weight.:fishing1:
Mobile reception probelms will put the hotline out of the question.
fair one mate , but cant help feeling theres a better way , perhaps a 5 or over limit i dont know the answer . What will happen to those caught on your comp mate , donate to charity or people keep there catch , i just know catch and kill will put a few off taking part . PS miss you x
Plugs & Runs
08-02-2009, 21:31
Well its impossible to please everyone mate, theres a fair chance of some peeps not catching. To set a minimum of five would be unfair, of cause any unwanted fish will go to charity. Its just the nature of the beast, im a C & R guy 100%. But lets not forget there will be a few there also who are a little less experienced.

Mark, funnly enough i have not had the pleasure of meeting bob, read loads of his stuff though mabey one day,,:clap2:
Right the big match in weymouth with 200 anglers it seems too many mate
my comp in ireland will go like this it will be restricted to 40 rods
split into 2 zones 20 rods in each zone,,zones will be set areas of shore line that will be pre set areas
anglers will be pegged in that zone over a period of 6hrs
with 4 pegs one and half hr per peg then move on,, each peg length will be 30 yds long an area that can be fished on that peg,,
on the capture of a Realy big irish bass:yeah::yeah:the length and girth will be recorded with the angler on the next peg to you,,this will be on your drawn match peg card wich he or she will sign off on your card the fish is then returned alive,,
on the completion of the comp the adjacent angler will sign off your card before handing in to the organisers
the total length of all your bass caught will be tallied for the prize list
and the girth and length will be calculated for biggest fish for the specimin
this is the similar way to C@R match fishing in ireland
what do you think
gee

Hi Tom,,
dont know yet ,,but there its a while before november,,i will do a bit of promoting and i will be looking for sponsors too ie Hardy Greys,Sea Angler, veals etc plus local tackle shops and mr fish:bleh::bleh:
and entry,,,,, i would be looking at 30 euro per day per angler
a small number of capable anglers chasing a good prize fund for the top three anglers and a great prize table for other prizes

Sounds the best way to me , believe weymouth to be a rover , crying at the thought of that many people all over MY SPOTS lol if they all do brill there be back :thumbdown That many people i believe the min weight should be at least 4 not 3 as stated , but mikes right after 1st weigh in , thers a better fish to chase , i dont like it or the jersey one , the all say over there 25 mins to any spot , well have a lot of marshalls every where , phone in your fish , get some one there quick , i dont know the best way when such large numbers , your way is great for your area , could not really work every where . o well back to the drawing board , BOB is a great man and i have learnt a lot from him , you should meet , or talk spots and catches , cause still one hell of a lot of illegal netting going on . Why do they not have a bayliff like mick said you had keeping a better eye on things :thumbdown

I think you and the guys want to watch it!! great to see so many anglers all over the place but you need organisation or the smart asses will exploit you and therefore void your compertition for the future
gee
think your right , its my mate mike plugs and runs whos sorting it , his 1st time , says its a head ache already bless him , i felt people should only be able to enter through recomendation from others , easy to get a biggy on the race ( portland ) if you got a boat , i think like you said all caught fish need a witness ,that you dont know , not easy is it
jordanis3r
09-02-2009, 21:06
problem with witness from the angler next too you - cutting down on fishing time and break in concentration of you need to continually stop for each other to mark teh cards etc ... better to have a couple of runners on the beach - makes it a bit easier if it's a pegged match ...
or we sort out a large carp keepnet to be used for c n r for each angler - net gets measured at each 40 minute peg swap ... doesn't help of there is a huge swell or waves but could work wading in an estuary ...
