A number of ‘Stateside angling magazines, Marlin Magazine is a case in point, now allow you to buy subscriptions, to view them electronically - on line, at a significant discount to ‘paper’ copies. However I’ve found two on line publications, produced bi-monthly, that are FREE.

The first, Catch Magazine - http://www.catchmagazine.net, devoted to fly fishing (fresh and saltwater) is rather short on text – apart from odd hyperlinks to magazine articles - but it offers some absolutely stunning photographs and video footage. There are of course links to advertisers’ web sites – that’s in large part I guess how the site is funded.

The other – Marlin World – http://www.marlinworld.tv - focuses on saltwater fishing, largely big game.

In both instances, by subscribing, you are advised as new editions are produced.

I guess Catch Magazine - http://www.catchmagazine.net/ - is undoubtedly the standard against which, to my mind, all other free e-zines need to be judged but, whilst not quite as user friendly in operation - other than the current one back issues are stored as PDF files - the images in this relatively new entrant - www.flymage.net/english.php - are also simply stunning.

It similarly focuses on fly fishing - salt and freshwater - but, in the current February/March edition, there're some great underwater shots of Striped Marlin, Sails and Tarpon together with an innovative montage of individual 'freeze-frame' shots - covering less than a second - showing a Blue Marlin striking a lure.

Again something you can register for to be notified of future editions as they're published.

Catch certainly has some spectacular shots - looking at photos like that is part of the reason why I'm striving to take better photographs myself (still nowhere close but I've become a lot more appreciative of just how difficult it is to take a really good photo!). I guess those artistic fly fishing types have a better feel for it huh! :roll1:
