ok chaps here's review and results

21 people fished on a very calm and calm night.
Fish were slow to come by from the off with just odd fish coming out of most areas. Some using the float some on the bottom-this match was going to be hard.It was noticed that the gates had been open on the big tides and water level was up about 3 ft this may have had some effect?
You can tell when anglers are struggling due to the wandering around. With the likes of Old Dicko,Matty and Ged not there it proved to be silent with no JAWS rumours abound.Half way through the match some started a whisper about a eel being caught which proved to be just that and flappa wapppa lug (whatever) caught a very nice whiting which was the biggest fish of the day.(must have been the starlight)

results were Ian Milburn 8pts,joint 2nd Gav Wood and Geoff D(flappa wappa, dunna slappa's brother.
payout ££60,£22.50 x 2 tight lines.:victory::victory:

I heard this too but i think it was someone using a black
Shoe lace for bait. Had five bites myself miss all some how the fish were just biting the once and going never to return (i'll have to stop puting Salt and pepper on my mack) thought it might of been more tasty from the fish.

Ok
Time for an explanation for the really stoopid name

Several years ago and several beers into a good night out I was talked (nay goaded with a £10 side bet) into entering what was basically a “Dads & Lads” Fishing Comp off the beach at Walney Island.
Not having a clue I bought a cheap Shakespeare Combo, mustad rig and a lead weight from the local angling shop and with a week to go before the comp decided I better find out how to cast and stuff.

A good mate (r.i.p.) offered to give me some tips on the next days tide… I turned up a bit late as mate was already set up with a couple lines in the water.
I asked him (trying to sound like I knew something about fishing) “What ‘ave you got on?” He stopped rolling a fag, pointed at the nearest rod and said “Pennell - Lug” then the other and said “Rag - Flapper” I knowingly nodded as the panic set in thinking “Pennelug - Ragflappa”.. What the f@@k does that mean?”

Just to finish the tale
A week later I managed to look a little bit like I knew what I was doing (although after a heavy sesh on the lager the night before the guy on the peg next to me had to help me tie my rig on). Three quarters of the way into the match and nearly out of bait, I forgot to take the bail-arm off and miscast dropping the lead about 5 or 10 yards out into the surf. When I pull the line back in - wonder upon wonders... a Rockling not much bigger than the lug worm that had been on the hook ten seconds earlier. Not knowing what to do I put this tiny fish into my now empty bait bucket with some sea water and continued fishing with a bit of bait that had been on my hook for nearly an hour.

Fifteen minutes to go.. Billy, one of the organisers, came past asking if I’d caught anything “Just a l’l tiny fish… thinking about using it for bait”. Billy then informed me that no one else had caught anything and that l’il tiny fish could win it. That night after a little presentation in the clubhouse I was 100 (& 10) squid better-off .. a lot of which went on buying a round in for my fellow competitors who kept calling me Matt or Henry for reasons that were completely lost on me …but I was from that day hooked on fishing.

Good report there nige :thumps:

I think a match down the channel (deep water berth if the gates are still open?) would be a good idea, especially as the fish stocks in the dock have taken a bit of hammering in the matches.

I would have been at this weeks match but i already had other plans  I hate missing out on any fishing be it match or pleasure.

See you next week if its on.
