Please could someone help me. I am after a bit of advice regarding tide sizes for wreck fishing. Basically are small tides better than big tides? We are wanting to go in March and the boat we are considering is only available on dates where there are big tides. Will this be worth our while? What are we likley to catch on a mid-channel trip with big tides?

Hi Jackson, if you go on the big tides the way you fish will change just a bit, you will need to use 9-10oz weights maybe a bit more, and wind very slowly when the tide is running at full tilt, increasing the speed of wind as the run decreases, you will also be able to decrease the size of weight, Pollack will be the main target with the odd Cod thrown in for good measure, take a selection of lures and include shads, jellyworms, twin tails and firetails, pirks will also be handy to have,
14" booms for the shads etc and if your using leadheads use 4-5ft traces for these on short booms 8"- 10"
