Welcome to sea angling! You will soon know the joys of driving for 3 hours and spending a fortune on fuel to catch bugger all! lol!

I would have said the Bristol Channel...upper channel around clevedon should be around 1.5 hours from you down the M5. Fishing not great around there at the moment though!

Same length of journey will see you in S Wales where the Rays and Doggies are now showing. Could always try Perch Rock at New Brighton for Dabs.

why not go to Birmingham airport and get a flight to Cork. Only 50 minutes and better fishing as well, at least in my humble opinion!!

I'm in telford, but if some of you midlanders fancy a trip I would love to tag along. I am a newbie to sea angling and could definately benefit from a push in the right direction!

Hola, I am from Birmingham, right in the middle so try and plan a few trips a year.
I find Wales is the easiest plus I bloody love the place, for any Welshies reading I am Polish not English, occasionally I will go as far as Holyhead but recently I have been to Llangoed and around New Quay.

Recently a friend of mine drove to Southampton and it took him only 2hrs 20mins which was pretty good, so I think I will have a look down there too as I very rarely venture south for fishing.....or do I...is filth banned?...
Also planning a trip to Ilfracombe as it doesn't seem a bad drive.

Have been to the east coast twice, first time nothing and the second my friend totaled his car as we arrived onto the beach front.
Easy roads, that is all I have to say on the matter.

If you fancy a serious trip I went to the Mull of Galloway once, most southerly tip of Scotland, it was absolutely stunning and well worth a visit even if you may endure doggies. It has a stunning coastline and an incredible environment/variety of spots, plus very peaceful (and clean).
Eat my first doggie that day......not relishing eating another.

Oh I do actually head to Newquay for surfing and find that a good place for mackerel.

im from walsall area i go most weekends i would rather go a bit further and actually catch something.....lol i do most of my fishing on the south east coast ie Kent good fishing all year round and proberbly some of the best cod fishing in the country.... will take you about 31/2 4 hours but if you plan your trips with tides etc you wont go far wrong. i fished all over the country and i would the south coast of england is better than most other places in the uk
but im bias as i come from Dover originaly
