there are a few campsites in the area obviously, although none right next to the venue. Some of them even cater for old people so thats good for a few of you
the fishing will be pretty good there to be fair and a offers a lot more scope than Seatown.
Ragworm and fish baits would be best.
map is here (http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=50.561609~-2.451024&style=h&lvl=16&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1)If you look at the map and use the Esplanade as a waypoint, you will see the pub just below the word esplanade (left as you look at it from the water)
there is a small carpark for a few cars just further down, and to the right of the pup there are two larger carparks available. Bags of room in fact.
Dennings tackle is on the way to the venue at wyke Regis and thier number for ordering bait is
01305 783145 Paul is a pretty decent bloke, excellent angler and the shop is geared more for the experienced angler as apposed to the tourist trade. Top shop and good bait.

Nice one Deano....... can you imagine me trying to 'kick-start' the Welsh team at 5 in the morning.....:roll1:
I'll have a word around though.
Nothing stopping anyone fishing early doors though mucca.
The main reason for the later start was to catch the tide coming in, if this makes little difference to the fishing we could shave an hour off the start time....:marinheir

ok, not trying to cause ructions or owt but, as i'm new to these matches i'm gonna ask....
if it's a comp, why "any amount of rods"? i could turn up thurs night and set out 30 rods with the kids! surely a 2 limit would make more sense?
i say that cos if my lad thinks he can have as many rods as he likes, there'll be no room in the car for camping gear!
also, why average length? i've never understood that system. surely if people use a length to points system it it a lot fairer, with length only a 2lb eel would beat a 10lb bass! is biggest fish weight or length? if it's length then it's not particularly erm.. fair i guess is the word i'm thinking of!
don't want to sound sour or negative, just curious as to why the rules are as they are?
guess i'll be fishing for gar and eels all day!
just to clarify, with my prizes... biggest fish means heaviest or, we can work it out on the length to points cart.

due to the 'friendly meet and greet' concept of these meets, it's never entered our heads to fish more than two rods hugh.
it's not a comp as such see ?
the actual fishing takes 2nd place to the banter for quite a few of us.
i say that cos if my lad thinks he can have as many rods as he likes, there'll be no room in the car for camping gear!
i've a nice shogun for sale mate....:spiteful:

from the start we've used a measure and release system, recently we've introduced a team average system to iron out any numerical advantage for either team.
we've discussed the garfish situation and there could be a late decision pending to limit the number countable, i'm awaiting andy's thoughts on that.
the 'best' fish will win the dai english trophy not necessarily the longest mate, so the aforementioned bass would be the winner in my eyes.

england v wales chesil
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
due to force 4 winds this meet is posponed until further notice
i know its a pain but following advice from 3 locals its been decided that the conditions make the safety issues of organising this meet not feasable
i apologise and realise the situation of those camping and travelling to the meet but i had to make the decision now to save many people at least their travelling costs
pat.

well, have to admit i'm pretty gutted, for the kids as much as anything. not to mention i was looking forward to it!!!
when is it to be rescheduled for? need to know asap so i can beg the campsite to let us change dates and hopefully not lose our deposit.
cheers,

I bet the weather turns out to be absolutely fine, lol.
Wouldnt be the first time weather forecasters have got it wrong, eh?
Anyone remember the slight winds of '87? lol
I'm still going to be coming down, it's too late to cancel my hotel

kind of, slept through the worst of them!!
sat here doing my head in now as i've got nothing to do, very blowy up here and the wind map shows the same down there, putting up a tent in that will be a nightmare!
HUGH,BOBBAGE and any others that want to,,, THERE ARE SOME OTHER OPTIONS..
you can pitch a tent i think on preston beach..(no-one would stop you)then theres the two piers for a little species hunt, not 100%sure of what you may catch at preston but i'm sure some fish will be about...but it will be calm,
if enough people still want to do a meet maybe their would be a good option,,
may be going with a few myself to the stone pier and maybe if the wind does die down go onto some where else,,
pats decision was a hard choice i know and he has called it right being quite local and been down to see the sea state there over the last few days and it has been rough as ****,

HI Deano,
I don't doubt the reasoning behind Pats decision mate.
re the camping, we've already paid a depo on the site so if we came all that way (prob about £75 of deisel, + site, + food, +everything else kids need!) we'd use it, not knowing the area that well is also a bit of a disadvantage.
Cerys (my 9yr old girl) is the the only one who's upset about the camping bit so, looks like regardless of weather, i'll be in a tent in the garden one night this weekend with her, she want's to do the whole cooked brekkie etc out there too!!!
will prob fish sat or sun up here now, the kids are fine in rough weather (dragged up in it!) and understand the dangers, though if chesil is as bad as ya'll say it's for the best they don't fish down there for now.
anyways, any of you who do meet up, hope ya'lll have a good time.
HUgh
