any one fancy trying newburgh in july..

no date yet or tide will get back to this.

its between cruden bay and balmedie narrows it down a bit.

youll be fishing the river mouth as theres markers where you cant fish.

2 trophys up for grabs heaviest flounder/heaviest dab (no turbos that i know of)

Took a trip up to Newburgh today, and was pleasently surprised to see that it looked better than when I used to visit it as a bairn, but ......
There's always a but, isn't there ?!

Across the estuary, on the wildlife reserve side, sunning themselves on the beach was between 50-70 goddamn fish munching seals :preachon:

Might give it a try sometime soon, just to see if the seals are there for the sea trout, or the flatties.

Will let you know how I get on if I do.

In line with a previous post regarding future meets, and a general concensus being shown that it would be good to have a short get together prior to going fishing, I paid the venue a visit on Saturday.

There is a small hotel (Ythan Hotel), and adjoining pub (Briggee's Inn) very close to where we would ultimately be fishing, and whilst I was there necking a few jars I made a general enquiry as to the possibility of them opening up their function suite for the purposes of a meeting point (and for the hotels benefit, the sale of bacon rolls and coffee), and it was something that they would consider.

Obviously, the tide chosen would need to be such that this could be achieved, i.e. a 2pm tide (or similar) that would allow us to begin meeting at say 10am, have an hour or so getting to know each other, etc. and that would allow us to be out fishing a couple of hours before high water.

Then there is also the possibility of meeting in the bar for a pint after fishing is finished (clearly not a session, as folk will be driving).

Just a thought.

As we said on the phone before Kev, this sounds like a superb idea and we'd all get the chance for a chin wag before and after fishing.

Its a good oppertunity not to be missed I think.

What say yeeee :D
