The question is, how do you keep them of your boat?

Number 4 shot, full choke barrel, 30-35yds, never fails, or even better .22 telescopic sight, sub-sonic shells, "click", there is no answer to the dreaded "****ehawk", except a full cover so they cant perch, but its as big a pain as the c**p!

Mmmmm, that has crossed my mind many a time the last two seasons. Not looking forward to another year having to dig the cr#p of the cabin roof and tonnau cover :yucky:

They dont like sharp angles because of their webbed feet, so put everything as sharp an angle as possible, they love flat surfaces, so if you have a flat roof on your cabin, fix a spar above it, & cover it like a ridge tent, they wont perch on sharp angles.

A selection of bread , cake and leftover chips carefully displayed on the boat 5 berths away should keep them off yours,to avoid upsetting that boats owner I would suggest making sure the chips are free from ketchup,it pays to be thoughtful

had to laugh i did something similar last year to a mate camping in perranporth. After he'd gone to bed we emptied the contents of a bag of wild bird seed on the roof of his caravan....not impressed at first light!!!

I used to bring my cat in the boat and he would do a fine job of scaring away an individual gull but a flock of them tend to gang up on him and peck the **** out of him. The flock had to answer to my BB gun. For the non chalant method use, here is an American secret. Feed them Alka Seltzer

hi we have the same prob with the seagulls . so we added a plastic kestrel to the cabin top this seemed to work for a while but the seagulls seemed to have sused it out as they even sh"te on that now sods! a boat a few morings up for us has a lenght of cord with a cd disks tyde about every two feet running from the cabin top to the stern. and he dont get bombbareded at all....so worth a try.

I have read that fishing line tied to the bow and up to aerial etc works, gives off a buzzing sound in the wind and when they try to land it gets in their way, stopping them. not tried it yet, so if any one does or finds a 100% solution lets hear.

The easiest and most efficient way is - tie a line from the stern to the bow and attach a CD every few feet and tie in place with a knot. The gulls wont go near the boat because of the shiny silver CD and believe me it really does work !!

Hope this helps you.

Thanks backlash,

But I cannot tell a lie, all credit must go to my father. Oh, and all blame if it doesn't work. Just thought I'd slip that in because I know he logs on this site for a read ;)

I am sure if you ask around you could get a few copies of 'The Birdie Song', it drove me mad, so should work for the gulls!
