View Full Version : auxillary engine on warrior 165
I have a warrior 165 and need to buy an auxillary engine, should I buy a standard or long shaft?. I need to use the auxillary on an inflatable to get to my mooring.
thanks,
Mike

a long shaft would be much better, if you buy a short shaft you will need to mount the auxillary bracker very low which would mean if you have to use it to get home one day for a few miles you could end up in a very uncomfortable position to do so! (tiller steer would be very low)
I have a 6hp longshaft on an inflatable, I can only use it on half power or it tends to fold the transom of the inflatable. It is ideal as a kicker for a Warrior IMHO. Good trade off between HP and weight, at a guess your warrior would do 5 to 6 knots with it.
Thanks for your help guys :)
Long shaft it is
