Mr Mullins, being the most excellent chap that he is, has come up with a goodidea for any of the guys that are here the evening before the festival starts. We will be at the Shakespeare (in the bar:spiteful:) with some charts and maps of the island, and we can all have a chat about tides, times and marks for the weekend. It will be a good time to discuss options and hopefully between us all we can come up with some kind of stratigy to get one of us dirty pluggers to land a good one this year. Oh, and this is not hype, I have heard of alot coming on plugs this week, remember last yerar? The week leading up to the comp was mental, but the top of the tide was on the thursday evening and the waning tide was c rap.

Tom i thought you were a brave soldier.

Tom, my brother in law stores Hire cars on his farm in the winter. If he's got any around I can take you there to exorcise your demons by scaring them all s$%£)3ss just by turning up then after that, you'll be ready for a dark night on a dark rock in the middle of anywhere.

I can thoroughly recommend a wading staff for daytime and night time on unfamiliar rocks. Also that way if you do fall over you can still thrash the hire car when you get back. Basil Fawlty and a Morris 1100 spring to mind. Sod the excess eh.

Well, we'll discuss options on that Thursday night then.

Obviously Steve and co will have good info on what's around and he's not a bloke to ignore if he's got anything to say on the subject.

But, me and kev will most likely...

fish fly and plug at various locations till we drop.

IF we skish it'll only be to heads that can be walked to over THAT TIDE as i wouldn't want anyone thinking we had an unfair advantage.

I have a few idea's on where might throw up a decent fish or 2 but as in all fishing, nowt's guaranteed other than getting the line wet.

We can still have a blast trying though..

The weathers looking like strong E or NE winds.
How's this for Bass fishing around Jersey?
Is it better to fish with chop and into the wind or away from the wind and the chop?
And can anyone tell me which way the tides run around the island?
And is this year's springs on the rise, peak or waning for the weekend?

Cheers

wind direction and chop, fish will be where the bait is easily attainable, work hard you will to find your trophy.

nosam, why worry about what you can't change:nono:

Kev, I'm not worried about changing anything, rather being prepared and taking nature the way she comes and using it to my advantage :) Sorry won't be landing until Friday morning so will miss the Thursday night.

Certain places work well in different senarios. Tide pushing right to left with the wind following but slightly in your face brings baitfish in close, would be nice to know that if I'm standing on the NE corner with the wind in my face whether the tide will be running right to left or left to right on the ebb/flood, before I've hiked 30 mins in the dark.

Some of you may find the fishing is better for you on the island, when you're out of the wind. I don't know, I'm a visitor, this sort of stuff would be helpful in advance. If it's blowing from the west do you prefer to fish the east etc? I know the island very well having visited at least a dozen times but hardly fished it at all. A little tidal knowledge and an idea of how your local Bass behave would be priceless without giving away all your secret marks or techniques.

PM me if you'd prefer, or anyone else for that matter who may be able to help a few tourists enjoy our stay
