Hi everyone, I have just posted in the East coast section and have been pointed in this direction in the hope of finding someone close to me that could give me some help/pointers. Its encouraging to see a section for people who live away from the coast, I though I would be the only one! haha! Anyway, here is a copy of my original post in the east coast section, I look forward to any replies!
Hello, my name is Jimmy. For some time now I have wanted to have a go at sea fishing. When I say I want to have a go, I mean I want to take it up, as a hobby. My only concern is that I live in Stamford, some way from the nearest coast.
Is this going to be a major concern do you think or am I being realistic in thinking that I can take up a hobby that I won't be able to do all of the time? I think the nearest coast to me would be Norfolk, 2 hours drive at a guess.
How far from the coast do you guys live? Any of you have a long drive to get to your fishing destination? If so how often do you manage to go? I do a bit of fly fishing for trout but have never fished the sea.
I look forward to any replies,
Thanks,
Jimmy.

Hi
I live in Peterborough not too far from you.
My mate and I go to Norfolk coast mostly Salthouse (near Kelly) or Cromer area. Normally go about twice per month.
If you fancy a trip I am sure we could arrange. Salthouse is about 1h45 from Pboro.
Last Saturday we caught 13 small fish between us.
Regards

Hey Jim,
I live in Oakham, so not far from you at all!! I'm taking up sea fishing this year, and will be headin out to salthouse, cley, and cromer pier. I'm lucky enough to have the use of a caravan at east runton so will make my life alot easier!!!:marinheir I've got friends in the area who think nothing of jumpin in the car at 4 in the morning and heading off to salthouse for the day, no traffic so bomb down in easily under 2 hours.
Good luck mate, may even cross paths at some point!

Hi Jimmy
I fish lures for bass - typically restricted to holidays and visits to in-laws near whitby. Highly unsuccessful by the way due to limited time available but it is addictive so even if I only go 5 times a year it is great fun just to be out there. I am considering trips to the east coast and posted to this forum for information. I had some kind offers of being taken with fellow fishermen; I may take one of these up but my gear is all spinning gear not shore gear so whether I do depends on whether I can afford new kit. Meanwhile I'll fly fish Rutland Water and will sweat it out whilst it is closed till April.
Good luck
Phil
I have a regular bait guy in Holt near Cley and Salthouse. He never lets me down and it is always fresh. But next weekend i will probably go set off early for the low tide and dig some myself for an hour or so before fishing. Anyone interested to come along let me know
