A couple of explanations first.

George Thornley Shield:

A group decision was made to hold the Help 4 Hero’s meet on the 15th as the tides were good and it was a date close to the 11th. We knew the shield was fished for on or about the same time so it was decided to incorporate the two meets.

However others had different thoughts and the shield will be fished for on the next W v E meet. For my money I am more than happy, the Help 4 Hero’s was never about any of us winning the only winners should be and will be our lads and lasses fighting in a hell hole thousands of miles from home.

This meet is about good fun enjoying what we all love, lots of good banter and eating and raffling up as much as we can for a very worthy cause.

The Date:

The weather being what it was the 15th was a non-starter; around a hundred lengths of carbon pointing up on an open beach during an electrical storm would have been a recipe for disaster so I decided because I love you all so much it was a risk not worth taking.

We looked for the next correct tide on the nearest date and the 29th came up the winner. There have been some comments on the date clashing with the Llanelli match but I do not see that as a problem. Picking a date which did not conflict with either another match or prior arrangements for what ever is an impossible task. However most of the lads who fish these meets would not fish a comp because they fish for fun so this reduces the clash. I realise we might lose a few to the comp and to those that do go I wish them good luck and remember there is nothing to stop you getting a mate to by a few raffle tickets on the day.

The Help 4 Hero’s Meet:

To be held on Horton Beach meet and greet between 0930hrs and 1030hrs fish from 1030hrs till 1530hrs, raffle 1600hrs.
Money will be raised via you lot eating as many burgers and hotdogs as you can through out the day and swilling them down with cups of coffee and tea. We will have the food and drinks setup on the beach manned all day by volunteers.

Burgers and Hotdogs £1.25p each.

Tea and Coffee £0.25p each

The food, gas etc has been sponsored by WSF members so every penny taken will be for the Help 4 Hero’s fund.

Raffle Tickets a £1.00p per strip.

We have a table of excellent prizes and if you have any unwanted items please bring them along.

You can use as many rods as you like, I have been told lug is the bait of choice. Pleas keep the area immeadiately in front of the Life Boat road clear as they may want to launch. We will have rubbish bags by our beach cafe

The WEATHER is currently looking very good; the forecast is for the storms to blow themselves out during the week, leaving some colder but calm dry weather for the 29th. So keeping every thing crossed we are looking forward to seeing as many people as possible on Sunday 29th and many thanks to you all for supporting us and being so patient.

Best regards to ALL Ken
