Guys

A bit off topic this but do you know how windy it has to be before the ferries stop running - I am on the Condor fast ferry to Poole on Saturday night and the forecast is 30mph winds!! Any thoughts?

I think you'll find that 30mph equates with force 6 to 7 on the Beaufort scale,so your ferry should be OK - unless the Captain is a complete fairy!

i work with condor, from weymouth, force 7, will be about its maximum sailing wind, depending on direction and swell.

if it is from the east or west, then you are in for a rough ride.

In my experiance anything from a force 5 upwards can delay or cancel the fast ferries as they have a maximum wave height level they can operate to. There is a slow ferry service from portsmouth instead which goes in any weather.

On a personal note I don't like the fast ferries as they roll even in the light winds so my daughters been sick over me everytime we have travelled but at least they get you there fast I suppose! If you have to go back on the slow ferry the evenings foods been ok and you get a good breakfast to get you on your way.

The fast ferries go in anything up to 3m significant wave height, have a look at the channel light vessel webiste to see what it is. The conventional ferry will go in anything!!

I like condors fast ferries for speed, looks etc. but I never feel good on those ferries rough or smooth (never been sick but have been puked on three times now).

Personally I like the slow boat as I've been on that in a force seven and didn't even feel a little queasy.

How did you do while you were over Marie K?

Yes into Weymouth - Nope was in a car - I was thinking of asking one of the boys if they knew you but then I didnt even know your name -

numpty Irish man asks port operative - "do you know the Chesil Master?

port operative - "riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight!!!".

While I was over the wind blew and blew so I didnt get out in a boat - fished a few shore marks and tagged a few bass with a mate - it was good craic.

bit of topic mate lol but talking bout winds i came back from the canaries accross the Bay Of Biscay on the Aurora in a force 9 that was something to remember, but luckily i am not effected by seasickness, so i found it quite funny.
