I'm planning the big move to the Andalucian Atlantic coast between Gibraltar and Cadiz sometime next year, dog willing.

I want to try my hand at beach/shore fishing.

Does anyone have any data for this area, knowledge of tackle shops, good spots to fish and so on?

Hi Bil
Welcome to the forum, and my apologies for what is a belated reply.

It's not an area I've fished before but, searching through a Spanish web site, I found this posting, in English, that might well be of use. Here's the url - http://www.caranx.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=797.

It appears that, from the shore, they catch Bass, Bluefish and occasional Leerfish. Fishing further west, on the Algarve, I've also encountered Little Tunny - beloved by Americans and refered to by them as False Albacore or occasionally Artic Bonito - close inshore.

Hope that gives you a starting point.
Kindest regards
Dave

Just in case you were unaware of the situation I understand there is a requirement to have a regional sea fishing licence in Spain. There's reference to it on this particular thread - http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7877.

Thanks for that, especially the link to the Spanish board. There is someone there talking about the beaches where I go when I'm there, so that will be most helpful.

With luck I can find someone who will know where the regional license can be bought from.
