Casting weight - silly question?

<font color='#000000'>Hi all, just got myself to a new 12ft "Surf" Devil Stick. The rod has the casting weight printed on it as 4-6oz.

My silly question is...

Can I use a 2oz weight on this rod? It&#39;s what I prefer to use with my 9&#39;6" Uptider when using feathers for mackerel off the beach...

I only ask because I had a 13ft rod once, used it for spinning one afternoon and the tip snapped off (with all the whipping the spinner out I guess) so I&#39;m wondering if there&#39;s such a thing as too little weight for a rod.

look at picking up a cheap carp rod with a 2lb test curve
they will be suited better to 2oz
with a small fix spool and 12lb line should be ideal</font>

<font color='#8D38C9'>Try it&#33; It won&#39;t damage the rod.As Macky says though it probably wont cast too well as the power in a cast comes from getting the rod to compress or bend, if the weight is to light this will be difficult and it will be like casting with a broom handle. Get that cheap 2lb test curve rod and use braid, you cast further because its thinner and you feel every flick of a hooked fishes tail. you will never look back, I know I haven&#39;t.
