As part of a thread in the Canada and United States forum Big_Haddie and I started talking about Tanzania. So just in case it gets lost I thought I'd copy some of the comments, plus some additional ones, to this new African thread.

I don’t know where you fish in Tanzania but Peter Ruysennars at The Pemba Channel Fishing Club runs some interesting multi day trips down along that coast as far as (and back from) Kilwa - almost down to the Mozambique border. It covers as well Mafia Island and Latham. There’re details of his first exploratory trip on his web site - http://www.pembachannel.com/index.asp.

Not fished tanzania before, waiting for a reply from an outfit on boat prices, researching digs and flights just now trying to put together a total costing for a 2 week trip with 7 or 8 days fishing.
We fancy a change from the trolling we do in kenya, and those dogtooth tuna look interesting, plus jigging for GT's looks fun.
Additionally here's a link to a brief report on a new World Record DogTooth Tuna caught off Latham Island - http://www.fishingtanzania.20m.com/nuovo.html. Going back to that site's home page though there a range of other area's refered to, from Pemba in the north down to Kilwa close to the Mozambique border. Just to stress though I've no experience of this particular operation.
Also I've picked up details of a report to Latham Island - mainly Dogtooths and Giant Trevally - from the Caranx forums. Here's the url - http://www.caranx.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2432.
Then adding to the PembaChannel report on Kilwa here're details of another trip from the Caranx forum - http://www.caranx.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2324.
Whilst some of the reports relate to trolling there's also a significant emphasis on Jigging and Popping techniques, something that Big_Haddie is keen to try. That Caranx set of forums is a useful starting point in terms of these techniques, but one of our forum members, Dave Irving, is well practicised in this art. I'll separately ask Dave to identify a few links, within the General International forum, that will expand on this.
