Hi,

I recently heard about a sailfish that was landed off the Chennai (Madras) coast a month or so ago. Its probably one of the few fish caught there as no one really fishes for sail here. I am working on the possibility of heading down to see where it was caught and fish the area.
Apparently it was caught on strip bait, but more details are hard to come by.

Regards,
I.A.

There should be plenty of them off the Chennai coast. Here in Sri Lanka they are caught, mainly by the professional fishermen, all around the island and some even very close to the shore in fairly shallow waters.

Guys can you give any advice on choice of a realatively inexpensive beach rod for ledgering and plugging for use in sri lanka in colombo and negombo area?

I might need a reel but thats less important. Someone was recommending a Daiwa, 10-13foot type beach or pier rod.

Cheers
